Description
Dredgers keep Vietnam’s river mouths, ports and canals open, from the Saigon River to the Mekong channels. Their cutter heads, dredge pumps and ladders shake hard all day. So the big bolts on those parts need a check at each docking. The Snap-on TE2005FUC torque wrench covers that heavy work with a two-needle dial in ft-lb.

Dredger joints in range of the TE2005FUC
- Cutter head drive and gearbox mount bolts.
- Dredge pump casing and base bolts during a wear part change.
- Ladder trunnion and hoist sheave bracket bolts.
- Spud carrier and winch frame bolts where the builder lists a torque value.
Dredge builders also set their own rules, and some joints use tensioners or locking methods. Therefore start from the builder’s manual, then use the TE2005FUC for joints with a printed ft-lb value.

Snap-on prints this base row in its US Reading/Standard 2% Accuracy table. The same page states that certificate of calibration models add a C suffix to the stock number. So the TE2005FUC is the C form of the TE2005FU. Lost in HCM titles it with Chart, so confirm what the paperwork covers before you order.
Two needles on a rolling deck
A dredger deck moves, and the crew cannot always stare at a dial during the pull. With the TE2005FUC, the second needle stays at the torque achieved. So with the Snap-on TE2005FUC torque wrench, the fitter can finish the pull, find steady footing, and then read the value. Meanwhile, the first needle shows the targeted torque for the job.
Where the 2% band starts
Lost in HCM lists this wrench under US Reading/Standard 2% Accuracy. That grade promises a reading within 2% from one fifth of the scale through full load. For the TE2005FUC, the band therefore starts at 400 ft-lb. Lighter bolts on hatches and rails need a smaller dial.
Handling the Snap-on TE2005FUC torque wrench on board
An 80 inch wrench with its 5 foot handle needs room and a second person. First, clear the swing path and brace your feet. Then pull in one smooth motion while a partner steadies the head. Also rinse off river mud and spray after use, because grit hurts any dial. Snap-on warns never to use a Torqometer to break bolts loose. Finally, book periodic recalibration with an outside lab.
