Description
Big wrenches put real load on a test bench, and they need a sensor sized for it. The Snap-on TBTT600A torque transducer is the high-range unit in Snap-on’s horizontal tester system. It covers 30 to 600 ft-lb, roughly 41 to 813 N·m. So a tool crib can check its largest hand wrenches on the same TBT600A bench that handles small tools.

Snap-on TBTT600A torque transducer data
| Range | 30-600 ft-lb (about 41-813 N·m) |
|---|---|
| Resolution in ft-lb | .05 ft-lb |
| Resolution in in-oz | 10 in-oz |
| System | One of three transducers listed with the TBT600A |
Page 347 of Snap-on’s CAT1500i catalog lists these values. The N·m range is our conversion, and we leave out the other resolution entries because they do not agree with each other.
The overlap zone: TBTT100A or TBTT600A?
The mid transducer, the TBTT100A, covers the band just below this one. Its chart resolution is .01 ft-lb, against .05 ft-lb here. So for a wrench you test between about 30 and 100 ft-lb, compare both ranges before you choose. In that zone, the finer sensor usually gives the cleaner reading. Save the Snap-on TBTT600A torque transducer for test points above that band.
Wrenches that belong on the TBTT600A
Think of the large bodies in Snap-on’s own range. For example, the TEC602A Torqometer runs to 600 ft-lb on a 3/4 in drive. The QD4IN800A dual-range body covers 129 to 572 ft-lb, while the QC4P300 preset spans 60 to 300 ft-lb. Each of those scales fits inside 30 to 600 ft-lb. However, a 1,000 ft-lb wrench would overload the sensor, so test it on other equipment.
Peak hold on a heavy pull
Paired with the TBTT600A, the TBT600A display offers peak hold and first peak hold. It also reads in ft-lb, in-lb, in-oz, N·m, kg-m and kg-cm, and Snap-on lists the system as NIST traceable. With a click wrench, first peak catches the value at the click. Meanwhile, peak hold suits dial and electronic wrenches that you pull to a target. Also pull slowly and keep the handle level, because a long wrench flexes and bounces.
Protecting a high-range sensor
Snap-on warns users not to exceed rated torque on these testers. So stop each pull short of 600 ft-lb unless the test plan calls for full scale. Keep shock loads off the TBTT600A, such as a dropped wrench or a sudden jerk. Then store it dry and covered when the bench sits idle. Finally, send it for calibration on your lab’s own cycle.

Lost in HCM supplies the transducer and prepares every quote; SMK Vietnam lists it as a partner item. Tell them your tester model and serial number. Then request a quote from Lost in HCM, see other torque testers and calibration systems, or contact SMK Vietnam.
TBTT600A: what labs ask
How does 30-600 ft-lb convert to N·m?
About 41 to 813 N·m, from 30 to 600 ft-lb times 1.356.
Does the TBT600A tester already include it?
Yes. Snap-on lists the TBT600A with three transducers, and this is the high one. A single unit makes sense as a spare or a replacement.
Can it test a 1,000 ft-lb wrench?
No. Its chart range ends at 600 ft-lb, so a larger wrench needs a different tester.
