Description

Small torque wrenches and drivers need a small sensor, or the reading gets lost in the noise. The Snap-on TBTT16A torque transducer covers the bottom of Snap-on’s horizontal bench tester range. It reads from 7.5 to 200 in-lb, so it suits the light tools that assembly lines use most.

Where the TBTT16A fits in the TBT system

Snap-on sells the TBT600A as a horizontal torque tester that includes three transducers. The system has a full digital display, peak hold and first peak hold, and Snap-on describes it as NIST traceable. Within that set, the TBTT16A takes the low end, while the TBTT600A handles 30-600 ft-lb. The TBTT100A sits between the two.

TBTT16A data

Range 7.5-200 in-lb (about 0.85-22.6 N·m)
Resolution (examples) 0.002 ft-lb; 0.002 N·m
Display units on the system ft-lb, in-lb, in-oz, N·m, kg-m, kg-cm

Is the Snap-on TBTT16A torque transducer right for your tools?

Compare the range with the wrenches on your check list. For example, Snap-on’s QC1I200 body covers 40-200 in-lb, and its QDRIVER4A torque driver covers 5-40 in-lb. Snap-on states its QC bodies’ accuracy from 20% to full scale. So the QC1I200 test band of 40-200 in-lb sits inside the transducer range. A driver set below 7.5 in-lb, however, falls under it.

Why buy a single transducer

Labs usually order one to replace a damaged sensor, or to keep a spare while another is out for calibration. That way, the bench stays in service. Ask Lost in HCM to confirm the match with your display before you order.

Handling the TBTT16A

Never load the Snap-on TBTT16A torque transducer past 200 in-lb, because Snap-on warns against exceeding rated torque. Also guard the cable and connector from crushing and sharp bends. Then store the sensor clean and dry, and keep it on a regular calibration cycle with your usual provider.
