Description
A torque wrench is only as good as its last check. The Snap-on TBT600A torque tester gives a tool crib or QA lab a fixed place to run that check. It is a horizontal bench tester, so the wrench lies flat while the operator pulls against a transducer. Its top transducer reads up to 600 ft-lb.

What a horizontal torque tester does
The tester holds a transducer on its side at bench height. First, the operator fits the wrench and pulls the handle in a level arc. Then the display shows the torque that the wrench really delivered. If that value strays from the setting by more than the tool’s tolerance, the wrench goes for repair or adjustment. In short, the TBT600A turns a guess about tool health into a number you can log.

However, the catalog table does not print an accuracy figure for this system. So ask Lost in HCM for the accuracy statement and the exact kit before you order.
Peak hold or first peak?
Each mode suits a different tool. Peak hold keeps the highest value of the pull, which works well for dial and electronic wrenches. First peak hold, by contrast, catches the value at the moment a click wrench releases. That matters, because torque drops right after the click. As a result, first peak shows where a click wrench truly lets go.
Picking the right transducer
Match the transducer to the tool under test. For example, a small 3/8 in click wrench belongs on the TBTT16A, while a heavy 3/4 in truck wrench needs the TBTT600A. Also test at a few points across the scale, such as near the bottom, the middle and the top.
Where the TBT600A earns its bench space
- Tool cribs that issue and collect wrenches every shift.
- Incoming checks on new or repaired torque tools.
- QA labs that audit assembly lines in automotive and electronics plants.
- Heavy equipment bays with a mix of drive sizes.
Looking after the tester
Keep the Snap-on TBT600A torque tester on a solid bench, away from welding sets and vibration. Never load a transducer past its rating, since Snap-on warns against exceeding rated torque. Then send the system for outside calibration on the cycle your quality plan sets.
