Description
O-ring face seal fittings rely on a flat seal and an even squeeze. On 3/8 in tube, the -6 nut often has a 13/16 in hex. The Snap-on RTWH52YSL flare nut head fits that hex from a Y-shank torque body and ratchets in place. So a fitter can run the nut down without lifting the head off the line.

Face seal work with the Snap-on RTWH52YSL flare nut head
Face seal nuts sit on hoses and tubes across excavators, loaders and presses. Many hide behind valve blocks, so a socket cannot reach them. The RTWH52YSL slides over the line from the side, then turns the nut in short swings. In addition, its 12-point ring finds a new grip every 30 degrees. That helps when a bracket blocks most handle angles. Always measure the hex, because tube size alone does not fix the nut size.
Pair the ratchet with a rated 13/16 in ring
CAT1500i lists no maximum working torque for the RTWH52YSL or its ratcheting siblings. By contrast, the solid 6-point QYRXS26A at 13/16 in carries 117 ft-lb in CAT1500i, and the UK brochure agrees. So some crews run the nut down with the ratchet, then finish with the rated ring. That split keeps speed and a published limit in one kit.
Which Y body drives the Snap-on RTWH52YSL flare nut head
| Body | Range | Note |
|---|---|---|
| CTECH2Y100A | 5-100 ft-lb | Stores a head-length factor |
| QD3IN200B | 40-200 N·m (37-140 ft-lb) | Dual scale; ask about the longer reach |
| QC3P150 | 30-150 ft-lb | Preset for repeat values |
RTWHY heads sit 4.43 in from the pin to the fastener center, while QYRXS rings sit at 3.00 in. Therefore a body set for one head will not suit the other without a check. Ask Lost in HCM for Snap-on’s method when you switch between the RTWH52YSL and a solid ring.
The J twin and nearby RTWH52YSL sizes
CAT1500i also lists the RTWH52JSL, the same 13/16 in ratchet on a J shank. One size up, the RTWH56YSL takes 7/8 in nuts. One size down, the RTWH48YSL takes 3/4 in nuts. So a Y kit can cover neighboring nut sizes with the same body and the RTWH52YSL in the middle.
Requesting RTWH52YSL pricing
Lost in HCM supplies this ratchet and prepares each price, and SMK Vietnam lists it for that partner. State your Y body and the fitting standard in the request. You can also ask for the QYRXS26A at the same time. Once the list is ready, request a quote from Lost in HCM for both heads. Face seal FAQ for the RTWH52YSL
Can the RTWH52YSL take the final pull on a face seal nut?
Snap-on prints no limit for it in CAT1500i. So use the joint maker’s value with care, or finish with a rated ring such as the QYRXS26A.
What does the longer reach of the RTWH52YSL change?
It places the nut 1.43 in further from the pin than a standard Y head. Therefore confirm the setting method before you torque.
Can Snap-on supply the RTWH52YSL in a metric size?
Not in the standard list. Snap-on offers metric sizes on special order, so ask Lost in HCM about that route.
