Description
Cement mills, steel plants and power stations in Vietnam hold their heavy frames down with M36 anchor nuts. Those studs often stand too tall for a socket. The Snap-on QZOM55ADP open end head grips the 55 mm hex from the side and locks onto a Z-shank (0.990 in) body with two pins. So a long Z wrench and the Snap-on QZOM55ADP open end head can still bring a large nut to a controlled value.

Size, shank and limit of the 55 mm QZOM55ADP
| Opening | 55 mm, open end |
|---|---|
| Shank | Z (0.990 in), dual pins |
| Maximum recommended working torque | 480 ft-lb (about 651 N·m) |
| Outside diameter | 113 mm |
| Head depth | 23 mm |
| Fastener center to retaining pin | 5.75 in (QZOM series) |
The UK torque brochure stops its metric table at 36 mm. Therefore, these QZOM55ADP figures come from the Snap-on Industrial catalog alone.
Dual pins and the QD4IN800A body
The Z dual-range body in CAT1500i is the QD4IN800A, at 150 to 800 N·m (129 to 572 ft-lb). Its table carries a note for dual-pin heads only, and the QZOM55ADP has dual pins. However, the body scale runs well past 480 ft-lb, so set the cap on every job card. For other Z bodies, such as the CTECH4Z600A at 30 to 600 ft-lb, ask Lost in HCM whether the dual-pin shank seats correctly.
M36 anchor and flange work for the Snap-on QZOM55ADP open end head
The M36 nut carries a 55 mm hex in ISO 4032, and DIN 934 agrees. That covers foundation nuts on presses and mills, as well as big flange nuts on pump and turbine casings. For example, a crew can re-torque kiln base nuts during a shutdown without lifting covers off the studs. Still, many M36 joints need more than one open end head can carry, so check the value first.
X or Z for the QZOM55ADP size
At 55 mm, CAT1500i lists only two open end heads. The QXOM55A uses an X shank and carries 240 ft-lb. In contrast, the QZOM55ADP doubles that to 480 ft-lb. So light anchor checks may suit an X body, while heavy joints need this Z head.
Planning the pull with a 113 mm head
The QD4IN800A body is 41-1/2 in (1,054 mm) long. Add a 113 mm head, and the QZOM55ADP setup needs a wide, clear arc beside the nut. Also plan a stable stance, because a long Z pull should run smoothly to the click. Never use the head to break a nut loose.
Who supplies the Snap-on QZOM55ADP open end head
SMK Vietnam lists the QZOM55ADP, and Lost in HCM supplies it and prices it. Request a quote from Lost in HCM with your Z body and the M36 value. Other large jaws sit under torque wrench heads and adaptors, or you can contact SMK Vietnam for help.
QZOM55ADP questions from heavy plant
Why does the QZOM55ADP part number end in DP?
It marks the dual-pin shank. The head locks to the Z body with two pins, which matches the dual-pin note in Snap-on’s QD body table.
Is 480 ft-lb enough for a full-strength M36 joint?
Often not. High-grade M36 bolts can call for much more, so compare your spec with 480 ft-lb before you order. Lost in HCM can suggest other options.
Is a 2-1/8 in nut close enough for the QZOM55ADP?
No. That inch hex is about 54 mm, so it sits loose in a 55 mm jaw. Snap-on lists the QZO68A for 2-1/8 in nuts.
