Description
Machine anchor bolts, mill bases and big pump flanges often use 50 mm nuts, and the studs usually stand too tall for a socket. The Snap-on QZOM50ADP open end head grips that hex from the side. It then locks onto a Z-shank body through its dual-pin shank, so one heavy body can reach the joint.

Body choice for the Snap-on QZOM50ADP open end head
In CAT1500i, the Z dual-range body is the QD4IN800A, at 150 to 800 N·m (129 to 572 ft-lb). That body table also carries a “dual pin heads only” note, and the QZOM50ADP has dual pins. However, the body scale runs past the head limit. So cap your setting at 480 ft-lb, even when the job sheet allows more.
50 mm: Y or Z?
At 50 mm, Snap-on offers two open-end heads. The QYOM50A uses a Y shank and carries 160 ft-lb, while the QZOM50ADP carries 480 ft-lb. There is no X version at 50 mm, although Snap-on lists a 49 mm X head. Therefore the choice is simple: light joints go on a Y body, and heavy joints need the Z head.
Room to swing a 102 mm head
The QZOM50ADP measures 102 mm across and 20 mm deep. As a result, it needs a wide arc beside the nut and enough height under any frame member. Before you order, hold a 102 mm disc or a card template beside the joint. Also allow for the long Z body, because it needs room for a steady pull.
Care and storage for the Snap-on QZOM50ADP open end head
Large jaws can open slightly after years of heavy work. So test the QZOM50ADP on a 50 mm nut or gauge each time the body goes for calibration. Then clean both pins and their bores, because the head must seat on both. Finally, keep it in its own drawer slot, away from lighter heads.

QZOM50ADP buyer FAQ
Which nut size has a 50 mm hex?
Many M33 nuts use 50 mm. Measure the flats first, though, because older or special parts can differ.
Does it suit a single-pin Z body?
Ask Lost in HCM. The head has dual pins, so confirm that your body accepts that style.
Can it break a rusted anchor nut loose?
No. Snap-on warns against using torque tools to break fasteners loose.
