Description
Heavy joints with a 32 mm hex often sit on press frames, crane brackets and large pump bases. The Snap-on QZOM32ADP open end head lets a Z-shank torque body reach them from the side. It also carries the full Z open-end rating, which smaller Z jaws do not.

32 mm is where the Z rating tops out
In Snap-on’s CAT1500i table, the Z rating climbs with jaw size. For example, the 29 mm Z head carries 379 ft-lb, and the 30 mm head carries 413 ft-lb. At 32 mm, the rating reaches 480 ft-lb, and the larger dual-pin Z heads in that table stay there. So the QZOM32ADP is the smallest Z open-end head with the full rating. That makes it a good fit when a mid-size hex needs a high value.
Pairing the Snap-on QZOM32ADP open end head with a Z body
CAT1500i lists one Z dual-range body, the QD4IN800A, at 150 to 800 N·m (129 to 572 ft-lb). That table carries a note for dual-pin heads, and the DP suffix marks this head as one. However, the body runs past the head rating, so set no more than 480 ft-lb. Also plan for length: the QD4IN800A measures 41-1/2 in, so the pull needs room.
Lighter shanks at 32 mm
Snap-on also makes 32 mm open-end heads for the J, Y and X shanks. Those lighter heads suit lower values and shorter bodies. Therefore buy the QZOM32ADP only when your spec needs the Z range, or when your station already owns a Z body. Otherwise, a lighter shank saves weight on every pull.
Working safely at 480 ft-lb
High torque on an open jaw needs care. So square the QZOM32ADP on the flats, brace your stance and pull smoothly to the click. Also check the jaw for spread after heavy use, because a spread jaw can slip on the next nut. Finally, keep the body on a recalibration schedule, as Snap-on advises.
