Description
A 29 mm hex rarely belongs to a standard nut, yet it turns up often on heavy hydraulic hardware. The Snap-on QZOM29ADP open end head lets a Z-shank (0.990 in) torque wrench reach that hex from the side. So you can tighten a fitting body or a special nut even when a hose or rod blocks a socket.

What the Snap-on QZOM29ADP open end head usually meets
Neither ISO 4032 nor DIN 934 uses 29 mm for a coarse-thread nut. M18 takes 27 mm, while M20 takes 30 mm. Therefore, a 29 mm hex usually sits on a fitting, an adapter, a valve body or a special lock nut. For example, picture a large swivel adapter at a press cylinder port. Before you order the QZOM29ADP, measure the flats with a caliper, because a sloppy jaw rounds hex corners.
QZOM29ADP data from two Snap-on sources
- Opening: 29 mm, dual retaining pins
- Shank: Z (0.990 in)
- Max working torque: 379 ft-lb, about 514 N·m
- Size: 58 mm across, 12 mm head depth
- Fastener center to retaining pin: 5.75 in
CAT1500i prints 379 ft-lb for this head. Snap-on’s UK torque brochure lists the 29 mm Z head as QZOM29A at 4,550 in-lb, which works out to the same value. Both sources also agree on the width and depth.
Snap-on QZOM29ADP open end head on the QD4IN800A
Snap-on’s industrial catalog shows one Z-shank body, the QD4IN800A. It reads 129 to 572 ft-lb, or 150 to 800 N·m, so 379 ft-lb falls well inside its scale. However, the wrench measures 41-1/2 in and weighs about 11 lb. As a result, plan for a two-hand pull and firm footing. Snap-on also says QD heads share a fixed pin-to-fastener sizing, so you need no length calculation. Still, never set the dial above 379 ft-lb with this jaw on the wrench.
Why not the X head at 29 mm?
Snap-on also makes 29 mm jaws on the Y and X shanks. Yet both sources give the Z version the highest limit at this size. So if your joint spec sits near the top of the X range, the Snap-on QZOM29ADP open end head leaves more margin. On the other hand, a lighter X or Y body is easier to carry along a line. In short, choose by the spec first and by the body you own second.

QZOM29ADP: three practical questions
Does a 29 mm head fit an M20 nut?
No. ISO 4032 and DIN 934 give M20 a 30 mm hex, so the QZOM29ADP would sit loose. Use the 30 mm Z head instead.
Can I loosen a stuck fitting with the QZOM29ADP?
No. Snap-on warns against using these torque wrenches to break fasteners loose. Free the part with a standard wrench first, then torque it with the QZOM29ADP.
Which wrench body does the QZOM29ADP need?
It needs a Z-shank (0.990 in) body. In CAT1500i that body is the QD4IN800A, which reads 129 to 572 ft-lb.
