Description
ISO 4032 gives the M10 nut a 16 mm hex, and high-grade M10 joints can call for more than a J head should carry. The Snap-on QYOM16A open end head moves that work to the Y shank (0.560 in). Both Snap-on catalogs rate it at 88 ft-lb, about 119 N·m.

Two shanks at 16 mm
Snap-on’s 16 mm row holds only a J head and this Y head. Also, there is no X or Z jaw at that size. So when the spec runs past the J range, the Snap-on QYOM16A open end head is the next step. The UK brochure lists it at 1,060 in-lb, which matches the 88 ft-lb in CAT1500i.
Y bodies with the Snap-on QYOM16A open end head
| Y body | Scale | Band under 88 ft-lb |
|---|---|---|
| QD3IN200B, adjustable | 37-140 ft-lb (40-200 N·m) | 37 to 88 ft-lb |
| QC3P150, preset | 30-150 ft-lb | 30 to 88 ft-lb |
| QC3P200, preset | 40-200 ft-lb | 40 to 88 ft-lb |
For a fixed line value, the QC3P150 gives the widest band. For mixed jobs, the adjustable QD3IN200B lets a technician change the value between joints.
An M10 motor mount on a conveyor
Picture a gearmotor bolted to a conveyor frame with M10 studs and nuts. The motor housing overhangs the nuts, so a socket and extension will not fit. However, the QYOM16A slides in from the side. Because each Y body runs 23 in, the technician also gets a smooth, controlled pull.
Fit notes for the Snap-on QYOM16A open end head
In practice, the head measures about 33 mm across and about 7 mm deep. Its pin sits 3.00 in from the fastener center, like every QYOM head. Then check DIN 934 parts too, since they use 17 mm for M10. In that case, the QYOM17A is the right Y jaw.
QYOM16A supply: what to tell Lost in HCM
Lost in HCM supplies the QYOM16A and returns the quote, and SMK Vietnam lists it here. Request a quote from Lost in HCM with the Y body you use and the M10 spec. You can compare the 17 mm DIN jaw under torque wrench heads and adaptors, or contact SMK Vietnam for help.
M10 and Y-shank FAQ: QYOM16A
Is 88 ft-lb enough for an M10 joint?
It depends on the grade, the lubricant and the drawing. Take the value from the design spec, then confirm it sits under 88 ft-lb.
Why not use the J-shank QJOM16A?
Both Snap-on books rate the J head lower than this Y head. When the spec climbs, the QYOM16A gives a higher limit with the same 16 mm opening.
Can a QC3P200 preset work with this head?
Yes, if you lock it between 40 and 88 ft-lb. Its upper scale runs past the head rating, so label the body for this jaw.
