Description
Snap-on stops its 23 mm open end range at the X shank, and the Snap-on QXOM23A open end head is the strongest jaw in that row. Both of the maker’s catalogs rate it at about 229 ft-lb, or 310 N·m. So it covers heavy 23 mm fittings on an X-shank (0.735 in) body.

The 23 mm row in brief
CAT1500i lists 23 mm heads for the J, Y and X shanks, with a blank in the Z column. The UK brochure shows the same pattern. Meanwhile, it prints 2,745 in-lb for the QXOM23A, which agrees with the 229 ft-lb in CAT1500i. Therefore the limit is firm.
Band of the Snap-on QXOM23A open end head on X bodies
- QD3IN350A adjustable, 59-251 ft-lb: use 59 to 229 ft-lb.
- QC4P300 preset, 60-300 ft-lb: use 60 to 229 ft-lb.
Either way, the top of the body scale lies above the head rating. So mark the 229 ft-lb ceiling on the body or the tool board. In addition, keep a Y or J kit for values under 60 ft-lb.
Where 23 mm flats appear
A 23 mm hex does not match a common ISO 4032 or DIN 934 coarse nut. Instead, it tends to sit on fitting bodies, valve adapters and special lock nuts. For example, an adapter on a press manifold may carry 23 mm flats behind a hose. Measure the part, then compare its spec with the rating of the Snap-on QXOM23A open end head.
Fit and reach for the QXOM23A
The head spans 47 mm and stands 10 mm deep in both Snap-on books. From pin to fastener center, the QXOM23A measures 4.50 in. Because the QD3IN350A runs 23 in and the QC4P300 runs 27 in, plan the swing arc as well as the jaw room.

23 mm X-shank FAQ: QXOM23A
Is there a Z-shank 23 mm open end head?
Not in CAT1500i or the UK brochure. For a 23 mm hex, the QXOM23A is the top of the range.
Can I set the QXOM23A limit from a metric drawing?
Yes. The 229 ft-lb rating equals about 310 N·m, and the QD3IN350A shows both units.
Will the QXOM23A grip a 22 mm or 24 mm nut?
No. A jaw that is 1 mm off will slip and round the corners. Order the 22 mm or 24 mm X head for those sizes.
