Description
Snap-on’s ratcheting heads stop short of 3/4 in on J and Y shanks. At that drive, only two remain: the Z-shank QZD24BDP and the Snap-on QXD24A ratcheting head on the X shank (0.735 in). So the QXD24A is the way to run 3/4 in sockets on an X body with a ratchet, for example on flange bolts or base frames.

QXD24A in the CAT1500i chart
- Square drive: 3/4 in.
- Shank: X (0.735 in).
- Head O.D.: 2-1/2 in.
- Head depth: 1-1/4 in.
- Ratchet service kit: RKRQC4.
- Fastener center to retaining pin: 4.50 in (QXD series).
The partner listing, however, quotes 5.75 in for that last figure. That value belongs to the QZD series, so the 4.50 in from CAT1500i applies here.
X bodies for the Snap-on QXD24A ratcheting head
| Body | Type | Range |
|---|---|---|
| CTECH3X250A | ControlTech | 12.5-250 ft-lb |
| QC4P300 | Preset | 60-300 ft-lb |
| QD3IN350A | Dual range | 70-350 N·m |
The ControlTech body stores a calibration factor for different head lengths, which helps with the 4.50 in reach. Meanwhile, the dual-range table carries a footnote that some bodies take dual-pin heads only. Its text does not show which, so Lost in HCM confirms the QD pairing.
No rating for the QXD24A: here is why
Sources disagree on the limit. For example, the partner listing says 240 ft-lb. The older UK Torque Brochure prints 3,600 in-lb, which equals 300 ft-lb. CAT1500i, in turn, prints no value in its ratcheting table. So stay within your body rating, and ask Lost in HCM for Snap-on’s current figure.
One RKRQC4 kit, several tools
The RKRQC4 kit rebuilds this ratchet. CAT1500i lists the same kit for the QZD24BDP head and for the 3/4 in sealed ratchet on the CTECH4R600A and TECH4R600 wrenches. Therefore a crib that already stocks RKRQC4 kits can cover the Snap-on QXD24A ratcheting head as well. The UK brochure also advises fitting the whole kit rather than single worn parts.
Snap-on QXD24A ratcheting head: quote and supply
SMK Vietnam lists this head for its partner, and Lost in HCM supplies it and sets the quote. First, share the X body model, the socket work and the torque values. Lost in HCM will then price the 3/4 in X ratchet for you. Other drives sit under torque wrench heads and adaptors, or contact SMK Vietnam with fit questions.
3/4 in X ratchet questions
Which ratcheting head gives a 1 in drive on an X body?
The QXD32A, the next size up in the X column after the QXD24A.
Is there a 3/4 in ratchet for Y bodies?
No. CAT1500i shows no 3/4 in ratcheting head on J or Y shanks.
How far is the QXD24A drive from the retaining pin?
4.50 in, the spacing CAT1500i gives all QXD heads.
