Snap-on QJXM24A Box End Head, 24 mm 12-Point Ring, J Shank (0.425″)

Light M16 jam nuts and fittings still carry a 24 mm hex. The Snap-on QJXM24A box end head grips that hex with a closed 12-point ring on the J (0.425 in) shank, for compact click bodies. Lost in HCM supplies it.

Description

A 24 mm hex marks an M16 bolt in both ISO and DIN tables, and most M16 joints are heavy. A few are not. Jam nuts on leveling feet, nuts on plastic tank flanges and fittings in soft castings may wear a 24 mm hex yet take a light spec. The Snap-on QJXM24A box end head covers those jobs on the smallest Snap-on shank, so a short J body can do the work.

One 24 mm hex, four Snap-on shanks

Snap-on’s UK brochure prints a 24 mm ring for every shank, which is rare in its metric table.

  • QJXM24A on the J shank, 2.50 in from pin to bolt center.
  • QYXM24A on the Y shank, 3.00 in.
  • QXXM24A on the X shank, 4.50 in.
  • QZXM24A on the Z shank, 5.75 in.

All four share a 35 mm width and a 15 mm depth. So the bolt does not decide the shank; the torque spec and your wrench body do.

Snap-on QJXM24A box end head: size and rating notes

The partner listing matches the brochure on width and depth. Even so, the two sources give different maximum working torques for this ring. We leave both off. Lost in HCM then confirms the limit when it quotes, and you keep the body at or below it.

J bodies that carry the QJXM24A

  • At a bench with one value, the 11 in QC2P75 preset holds a single setting from 5 to 75 ft-lb.
  • Mixed jobs suit the QC2I75, which you can reset anywhere in that range.
  • Teams that write specs in N·m can read the QD2IN100A in either unit, up to 71.9 ft-lb.

A 35 mm ring on an 11 in body feels head-heavy. So support the head with your free hand while you seat it, then pull at the grip.

Side room for a 35 mm ring

The QJXM24A needs about 17.5 mm from the bolt center to any wall. Also, check the gap between neighbor nuts on a tight bolt circle before you order. If the ring will not fit, a slimmer tool may suit the joint better.

24 mm J ring FAQ

Is the QJXM24A strong enough for a steel M16 bolt at full spec?

Usually not. Steel M16 joints often need more than a J body gives, so the QXXM24A or a Z ring fits better. Check your torque table first.

What is the shortest body that takes this ring?

Any J body fits. The QC2P75 preset is 11 in long, which suits a bench station.

Does the 24 mm J ring fit DIN M16 nuts?

Yes, because ISO 4032 and DIN 934 give M16 the same 24 mm hex. Still, measure painted parts before you order.
