Description
An 18 mm hex sits on ISO M12 bolts, one of the most common fasteners on factory machines. The Snap-on QJXM18A box end head brings that size to a light J-shank torque body. So a technician can torque M12 nuts in a tight bay without a socket, an extension or a second wrench.

Snap-on’s UK torque brochure gives the same ring size and dimensions as the Lost in HCM listing.
Which 18 mm joints suit a J-shank ring
A steel M12 bolt in a high property class often needs more torque than a J body can give. Therefore, the Snap-on QJXM18A box end head fits best on lower specs. Good examples include M12 nuts on aluminum housings, rubber mounts, sensor brackets and guard frames. It also suits locknuts on adjusters, where the spec stays low to protect the thread. Some DIN parts and older machines use 19 mm for M12, so measure the hex before you order.
Stepping up from the QJXM18A
Snap-on makes the same 18 mm ring in heavier shanks. The QYXM18A takes a Y body, while the QXXM18A takes an X body. Pick one of those when the joint spec sits above the J range. On the other hand, keep the J head for low values, because a small body reads finer at the bottom of its scale.
J bodies for the Snap-on QJXM18A box end head
- QD2IN100A dual-range body, 20-100 N·m (16.6-71.9 ft-lb).
- QD2IN50A dual-range body, 10-50 N·m, for light M12 specs.
- QC2I75 adjustable body, 5-75 ft-lb.
- QC2P75 preset body, 5-75 ft-lb, for one repeated value on a line.
Snap-on sizes its QD heads from pin to fastener center, so these bodies need no length math with a 2.50 in head. However, Snap-on sources disagree on the head’s own maximum, so confirm that rating with Lost in HCM.
Daily care for an 18 mm ring
Clean oil and grit from the ring before each use, then check that the pin locks the shank firmly. Next, look for rounding on the 12 points. Also send the body for recalibration on schedule, since Snap-on notes that periodic recalibration keeps a torque wrench accurate.

QJXM18A questions
Will the QJXM18A fit an M12 bolt?
It fits M12 parts made to ISO, which use an 18 mm hex. However, many DIN M12 parts use 19 mm, so check first.
Can it go on a Y-shank body?
No. The J shank only locks into J bodies. For a Y body, order the QYXM18A instead.
What maximum torque applies?
Snap-on’s documents give different figures for this head. So ask Lost in HCM to confirm the rating with your quote.
