Description
An 11 mm hex is easy to mistake for 10 mm or 12 mm until a wrench slips. ISO gives that size to M7 hardware, and it also appears on some imported automotive and machine parts. The Snap-on QJXM11A box end head fits it with a small closed ring on the J shank. In addition, this ring has a printed limit that both of our sources agree on.

Snap-on QJXM11A box end head: printed rating
Snap-on’s UK brochure gives this ring a maximum recommended working torque of 710 in-lb. The partner listing states 59 ft-lb, about 80 N·m, which is the same value in other units. So you can plan the job around that ceiling.
| Opening | 11 mm, 12-point, closed |
|---|---|
| Shank | J (0.425 in) |
| Outside diameter | 17 mm |
| Head depth | 8 mm |
| Pin to fastener center | 2.50 in (QJXM series) |
| Maximum working torque | 710 in-lb (about 59 ft-lb, 80 N·m) |
Matching a J body to a 59 ft-lb ring
| J body | Range | With the QJXM11A |
|---|---|---|
| QC1I200 | 40-200 in-lb | Whole scale below the limit |
| CTECH1J240A | 1.0-20.0 ft-lb | Whole scale below the limit |
| QD2IN50A | 9.2-35.0 ft-lb | Whole scale below the limit |
| QD2IN100A | 16.6-71.9 ft-lb | Cap the setting at 59 ft-lb |
| QC2I75 | 5-75 ft-lb | Cap the setting at 59 ft-lb |
Most 11 mm joints sit well under the ceiling. Therefore, a low-range body such as the QD2IN50A usually gives finer control than a 75 ft-lb tool.
Why the QJXM11A has no Y or X twin
Snap-on lists the 11 mm ring for the J shank alone, so no Y or X version exists in its metric table. For that reason, keep a J body at any station that meets this size. The 17 mm ring also needs only about 8.5 mm from the bolt center, so it slips between close bolts.
Keeping small rings apart
Rings of 10, 11 and 12 mm look almost alike in a drawer. So store the QJXM11A in a labeled slot, and check the stamp before each job. Also blow out chips, because grit in a small ring can mark the hex.

QJXM11A answers for buyers
Is 60 ft-lb too much for the QJXM11A?
No. Its printed limit is 710 in-lb, about 59 ft-lb, so stay at or below that value.
Does an ISO M6 bolt take an 11 mm ring?
Usually not. ISO M6 hardware uses a 10 mm hex, so the QJXM10A suits it better. Measure the flats first.
Is there a Y version of the 11 mm ring?
No. Snap-on’s metric table shows the 11 mm ring on the J shank only.
