Description

A 19 mm hex turns up on a lot of metric machinery, and it often sits right beside a raised edge. The Snap-on QJXBM19A box end head gives that size a 10° offset ring on a J-shank body. The offset tilts the body up from the surface, which helps when a cover lip or casting crowds the nut.

QJXBM19A specifications

  • Opening: 19 mm, 12-point box end.
  • Offset: 10°.
  • Shank: J (0.425 in).
  • Maximum working torque: 60 ft-lb, or about 81 N·m.
  • Fastener center to retaining pin: 2.50 in, as for the whole QJXBM series.

Is 60 ft-lb enough for your 19 mm joint?

Check the torque spec first, because it decides everything else. The QJXBM19A tops out at 60 ft-lb, which is the J-shank ceiling in this table. If your spec runs higher, you need a heavier shank and a different head style. Snap-on’s other 19 mm heads in the same catalog look like this:

Head Type Shank Max ft-lb
QJXBM19A 10° offset box end J 60
QJOM19A Open end J 60
QYOM19A Open end Y 138
QYRXSM19A 6-point flare nut Y 104

So for a full ring grip at 19 mm, this head is the choice; for more torque, you trade the ring for an open end or flare nut style.

Bodies for the Snap-on QJXBM19A box end head

In practice, any Snap-on J body accepts it, such as the QD2IN100A dual-range body or the QC2I75 adjustable body. Note, though, that the QD2IN100A reads up to 71.9 ft-lb and the QC2I75 up to 75 ft-lb. Cap your setting at 60 ft-lb on both. Thanks to the standard 2.50 in spacing, the dual-range bodies need no adjustment calculation.

Care for the QJXBM19A

Push the ring of the Snap-on QJXBM19A box end head fully down over the hex before you pull. Then load the wrench smoothly until the body signals. Also check the ring for cracks or worn points from time to time, and keep the shank bore clean.

Request the Snap-on QJXBM19A box end head

Lost in HCM supplies this head and handles the quote, while SMK Vietnam lists it and keeps no stock. Also share your body model and torque spec with them. QJXBM19A FAQ

Why choose a head with a 10° offset?

The tilt raises the body above the work surface. That gives your knuckles room when a lip or casting sits next to the nut.

Can I get the 19 mm offset ring on a Y shank?

Not from this table. Snap-on’s 10° offset metric list jumps from 18 mm to 24 mm on Y shanks, so 19 mm comes in J only.

Do I need to correct the setting for the offset?

Snap-on prints no offset correction for this head and lists the standard 2.50 in J spacing. We therefore give no correction here.
