Description
Tube nuts tear easily when a plain open-end wrench rides on their corners. The Snap-on QJRXSM13A flare nut head grips a 13 mm fitting on six flats instead. A slot lets it pass over the line, and the J shank lets it read torque on a light interchangeable body.

Snap-on numbers for the QJRXSM13A
| Size | 13 mm, 6-point |
|---|---|
| Shank | J (0.425 in) |
| Maximum working torque | 58 ft-lb (about 79 N·m) |
| Outside diameter | 24 mm |
| Head depth | 9 mm |
| Fastener center to retaining pin | 2.50 in (QJRXSM series) |
Why 58 ft-lb and not 60
Snap-on grades the limit by size on small metric flare heads. For example, the 12 mm QJRXSM12A lists 50 ft-lb, while the 13 mm head lists 58. From 14 mm upward, the J heads reach 60 ft-lb. So the 13 mm head sits just under the usual J cap. Snap-on’s UK torque brochure gives the same head 700 in-lb, which matches that figure.
Picking a J body for the Snap-on QJRXSM13A flare nut head
- QD2IN50A: 10 to 50 N·m, a good match for most tube nut specs.
- QD2IN100A: 20 to 100 N·m, for values closer to the head limit.
- QC2I75: 5 to 75 ft-lb adjustable, but never above 58 with this head.
Because the QD bodies take heads sized from pin to fastener center, you skip the length math. However, check your manual before you pair the head with any other body.
13 mm line fittings in plant work
Metric tube nuts in this size appear on hydraulic power units, machine-tool coolant lines and compressed air manifolds. In addition, gauge and sensor lines on process skids often use them. The QJRXSM13A suits all of these, because the slot clears the tube on an installed line.
Protecting the slot and the 6 points
A slotted ring is weaker than a closed one, so respect the 58 ft-lb limit every time. Also seat the head fully on the nut before you pull. Then keep the wrench square, since a tilted head loads only part of the flats. Never use it to break a stuck fitting loose.
Ask Lost in HCM about the Snap-on QJRXSM13A flare nut head
Lost in HCM supplies the head and quotes it, and SMK Vietnam lists it here. Give them your body model and tube nut spec. Then request a QJRXSM13A quote from Lost in HCM. Other heads are in torque wrench heads and adaptors, J bodies in torque wrenches, and help is a message away when you contact SMK Vietnam.
