Description
A 1 in tube nut does not always need a heavy wrench. Many brass and thin-wall fittings call for modest torque, and a light body reads finer in that band. The Snap-on QJRXS32A flare nut head suits that case. It grips a 1 in nut on all six flats, and it also locks into a J-shank body.

The largest J flare nut head
In Snap-on’s 6-point inch table, the J column ends at 1 in. So the Snap-on QJRXS32A flare nut head is the biggest flare nut head for J bodies. In addition, every J size from 9/16 in up shares the same 60 ft-lb limit. Above 1 in, however, Snap-on moves to Y-shank heads only. Its Y twin, the QYRXS32A, carries a higher rating for firmer joints.
Keep the body at 60 ft-lb or less
- QC2I75 adjustable, 5-75 ft-lb: set no higher than 60 ft-lb.
- QD2IN100A dual-scale, 16.6-71.9 ft-lb: same cap, and no length math.
- QD2IN50A dual-scale, 9.2-35 ft-lb: for light fittings well under the limit.
- CTECH1J240A ControlTech, 1-20 ft-lb: for small values with a digital readout.
The QJRXS32A keeps the standard 2.50 in J spacing. Therefore the QD bodies need no length correction with it.
Fittings that suit the Snap-on QJRXS32A flare nut head
- Brass flare unions on split-system and chiller refrigerant lines.
- Coolant and water fittings on CNC machines and test stands.
- Low-pressure air headers in plant services.
Care
Look at the slot edges of the QJRXS32A before each job, since a burr there can score a soft nut. Also wipe the shank clean, so it seats fully in the body. Then store the head in a dry case.

Quick answers on the QJRXS32A
Why choose a J head for a 1 in nut?
A J body reads finer in the low range. So it suits fittings with modest specs below 60 ft-lb.
What if my joint needs more than 60 ft-lb?
Then you would exceed Snap-on’s rating for this head. Move to the Y-shank QYRXS32A instead.
Does it need a length correction?
Not on QD dual-range bodies, because it keeps the standard 2.50 in J spacing.
