Description
Seven millimeters is a tiny hex, and the joints that use it forgive almost nothing. Think of hex standoffs on circuit boards, terminal nuts in a control panel or a small instrument fitting. The Snap-on QJOM7A open end head gives a J-shank torque body a 7 mm jaw for that work, so a technician can reach the nut from the side.

QJOM7A at a glance
- Opening: 7 mm, open end.
- Shank: J (0.425 in).
- Maximum recommended working torque: about 6 ft-lb, which is roughly 72 to 75 in-lb.
- Fastener center to retaining pin: 2.50 in, the QJOM series value.
- Shank options at 7 mm: J only.
Two Snap-on publications round the QJOM7A limit a little differently, so we quote it as about 6 ft-lb. They also differ slightly on its width and depth. Therefore we simply call the jaw very slim instead of printing a figure.
Only two bodies suit a 7 mm jaw
Snap-on’s UK torque brochure marks the QJOM7A with an asterisk. That note limits it to the QC1P100 and QC1I200 torque bodies. The QC1P100 is a preset body at 15 to 100 in-lb, so it suits one repeated value on a line. The QC1I200, by contrast, adjusts from 40 to 200 in-lb. Snap-on states that QC bodies hold their accuracy from 20 to 100% of full scale. As a result, the QC1I200 reads well from 40 in-lb up to the head limit.
Where the Snap-on QJOM7A open end head earns its place
Electronics and instrument plants in Vietnam run many small fasteners near cables and tubing. For example, a standoff nut may sit beside a connector, or a gauge fitting may hide behind a bracket. A socket cannot drop over those nuts, yet the 7 mm jaw slides on from the side. Also, a known limit protects soft brass and fine threads from overtightening.
Neighbors: 6 mm, 8 mm or a socket
Check the hex with a caliper before you order, because 7 mm and 9/32 in look alike. One size down, the QJOM6A carries 5 ft-lb in CAT1500i. One size up, the QJOM8A carries 10 ft-lb. So if a joint needs more than the QJOM7A allows, an open jaw is the wrong choice. In that case, use a socket on a square drive head instead.
Handling the Snap-on QJOM7A open end head
Small jaws round nuts quickly if they tilt. So seat the QJOM7A flat on both flats, and pull slowly to the click. Then store it in a labeled tray next to its body. Finally, never use it to break a nut loose, because Snap-on warns against that with torque tools.
How to buy the QJOM7A through Lost in HCM
SMK Vietnam lists this head as a partner product, while Lost in HCM supplies it and writes the quote. Request a QJOM7A quote from Lost in HCM and name your J body, either the QC1P100 or the QC1I200. QJOM7A FAQ from panel and fixture teams
Can I fit the QJOM7A to a QC2I75 body?
No. Snap-on limits this head to the QC1P100 and QC1I200 bodies, and the QC2I75 is not on that list.
What does about 6 ft-lb mean in in-lb?
It works out to roughly 72 in-lb. That is why the head pairs with in-lb bodies rather than ft-lb ones.
Does Snap-on make a 7 mm head in Y shank?
No. Its tables list the 7 mm open-end head in J shank only.
