Description
A 30 mm hex usually signals M20 hardware, yet some 30 mm parts need only a light, careful pull. Examples include a plastic pump union, a level gauge body or a lock ring on an adjuster. The Snap-on QJOM30 open end head handles those jobs on the J shank (0.425 in). So you can torque a wide hex with a short, light wrench.

The 30 mm row, shank by shank
| Head | Shank | Limit in CAT1500i |
|---|---|---|
| QJOM30 | J (0.425 in) | 60 ft-lb |
| QYOM30A | Y (0.560 in) | Sources differ, ask for it |
| QXOM30A | X (0.735 in) | Sources differ, ask for it |
| QZOM30ADP | Z (0.990 in), dual pins | 413 ft-lb |
Watch the part number, because CAT1500i prints QJOM30 with no A suffix. Also, the UK torque brochure ends its J column at 27 mm. As a result, the catalog and the source packet are the only listings, and both give 60 ft-lb.
Room around a 61 mm Snap-on QJOM30 open end head
Both Snap-on sources list the 30 mm head at 61 mm across and 13 mm deep. That width is about twice the hex, so a nearby hose or bracket can block the swing. Therefore, hold a plain 30 mm spanner in place first and sweep it through the arc. If the spanner barely clears, the wider QJOM30 may not, so look for another approach angle.
J bodies with a 60 ft-lb cap on the QJOM30
- QC2P75 preset, 5 to 75 ft-lb, 11 in: lock it at the joint value and never past 60 ft-lb.
- QC2I75 adjustable, 5 to 75 ft-lb, 13 in: the top 15 ft-lb of its scale is off limits with this jaw.
- QD2IN100A dual scale, 20 to 100 N·m (16.6 to 71.9 ft-lb): stop near 81 N·m.
- QD2IN50A dual scale, 10 to 50 N·m: every setting already sits under the head limit.
In addition, the QD models ship with a calibration certificate, which helps on audited lines. CAT1500i also notes that QD heads share one pin-to-fastener size, so a QJOM30 on a QD body needs no length correction.
When the QJOM30 is the wrong choice
Steel M20 nuts in ISO 4032 and DIN 934 both use a 30 mm hex. However, those joints usually call for much more than 60 ft-lb. In that case, step up to a heavier shank and a matching body. Keep the Snap-on QJOM30 open end head for low specs on wide parts, such as unions, plugs and lock rings. A 16S tube nut in ISO 8434-1 also measures 30 mm, so check its spec against the head limit first.

Questions buyers ask about the 30 mm QJOM30
Is there a J-shank head for 29 mm too?
No. CAT1500i shows a dash in the J column at 29 mm. So the QJOM30 is the next J jaw after the 27 mm QJOM27A.
What does the QJOM30 limit equal in N·m?
Sixty ft-lb works out to about 81.3 N·m. Keep any J body at or below that figure while this head sits on the tube.
Should I order it as QJOM30A?
Quote QJOM30, the exact number CAT1500i prints. Its 30 mm neighbors on other shanks all carry an A suffix, so the short number avoids a mix-up.
