Description
Hydraulic tube nuts on small lines are easy to overtighten and hard to reach. That is why the Snap-on QJOM14A open end head gives a J-shank (0.425 in) body a 14 mm jaw for that work. In ISO 8434-1 compression fittings, 14 mm is the nut size for 6L tube, a size you often see on lube and pilot lines.

Matching figures for the QJOM14A
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Opening | 14 mm |
| Shank | J (0.425 in) |
| Max working torque | 55 ft-lb (about 74.6 N·m) |
| Width | 29 to 30 mm |
| Depth | about 7 mm |
| Pin to fastener center | 2.50 in |
CAT1500i prints 55 ft-lb, and the UK brochure prints 665 in-lb, or about 55.4 ft-lb. So the rating holds in both. The Y-shank QYOM14A shares that limit too, which means the J version gives up nothing at this size.
How each J body lines up with the Snap-on QJOM14A open end head
| Body | Scale | Usable with this jaw |
|---|---|---|
| QD2IN50A | 9.2-35.0 ft-lb | Whole scale |
| QD2IN100A | 16.6-71.9 ft-lb | Up to 55 ft-lb |
| QC2I75 | 5-75 ft-lb | Up to 55 ft-lb |
| QC2P75 preset | 5-75 ft-lb | Preset at 55 ft-lb or less |
For a spec around 40 ft-lb, the QD2IN100A puts the value near mid-scale. That leaves room on both sides when you pair it with the QJOM14A.
Other 14 mm parts for the Snap-on QJOM14A open end head
For example, many Japanese machines and vehicles use a 14 mm hex on M10 flange bolts. However, ISO 4032 sizes the plain M10 nut at 16 mm, so check before you assume. You may also meet 14 mm flats on small valve bodies and sensor ports. In each case, the jaw slides on from the side while the tube or cable stays put.
Keeping the QJOM14A jaw in shape
Tube nuts are often soft, so a burr on the jaw can scar them. So check both faces before each job, and wipe away oil. Snap-on’s UK brochure also advises recalibrating the body every six months, or sooner with heavy use. Finally, store the QJOM14A in a slot so the shank stays clean.

QJOM14A questions from line technicians
Is the QJOM14A weaker than the Y-shank 14 mm head?
No. Both Snap-on sources rate the J and Y 14 mm heads at 55 ft-lb.
Can the QJOM14A fit an ISO M10 nut?
ISO 4032 gives M10 a 16 mm hex, which is too big for this jaw. Use the QJOM16A for that size.
Does the QJOM14A suit 6S tube nuts?
Not those. In ISO 8434-1, 6S tube nuts use 17 mm, so they need a 17 mm jaw such as the QJOM17A.
