Description
Small hex parts strip long before a wrench feels tight. The Snap-on QJOM12A open end head gives a 12 mm hex a firm ceiling of 36 ft-lb on a J-shank (0.425 in) body. As a result, small fittings and flange bolts get a measured pull instead of a guess.

Two sources, one limit for the QJOM12A
In CAT1500i, the QJOM12A row reads 36 ft-lb. Snap-on’s UK brochure prints 430 in-lb, which equals about 35.8 ft-lb. So both agree, and the limit comes to roughly 48.8 N·m. The two books also put the head depth at about 6 mm. Their width figures differ, though, so we leave that out.
A J body that never passes the Snap-on QJOM12A open end head limit
The QD2IN50A reads 10 to 50 N·m, or 9.2 to 35.0 ft-lb. Its top end stays just under the QJOM12A rating. Therefore, no setting on that body can overload the jaw, which helps on a shared tool board. In addition, the QC1P300 preset covers 60 to 300 in-lb for very light joints.
Other J bodies reach past the head, so cap them by hand:
- QD2IN100A, 16.6 to 71.9 ft-lb: stop at 36 ft-lb.
- QC2I75 adjustable and QC2P75 preset, 5 to 75 ft-lb: more than half of each scale lies above the jaw rating.
Typical homes for a 12 mm jaw like the QJOM12A
ISO 4032 sizes the M8 nut at 13 mm, so 12 mm is not the plain ISO M8 hex. Even so, many Japanese machines use 12 mm heads on M8 flange bolts. You will also find 12 mm flats on small sensor nuts and instrument fittings. So measure the part first, because the QJOM12A only suits a true 12 mm hex.
Every J body accepts the QJOM12A
Snap-on limits its 6, 7 and 8 mm jaws to the QC1P100 and QC1I200 bodies. The QJOM12A carries no such footnote, so it works with every listed J body. Its retaining pin sits 2.50 in from the fastener center, like each QJOM head.

Small-jaw questions on the QJOM12A
Can the QJOM12A fit a 13 mm M8 nut?
No. A 13 mm nut will not enter a 12 mm jaw. For that size, order the QJOM13A.
Why pair a QD2IN50A with this head?
Its whole scale ends at 35 ft-lb, just under the QJOM12A limit. So nobody can overload the jaw by mistake.
Does the QJOM12A need a special body?
Only Snap-on’s 6 to 8 mm jaws carry a body restriction. This head works with any listed J body.
