Description
Machines built to ISO metric hardware use a 16 mm hex on almost every line. The Snap-on QJBOERM16A box end head fits that hex with a 12-point ratcheting ring on a J (0.425 in) shank. So one J torque body can run the nut down and then finish it without a tool change.

QJBOERM16A at a glance
| Opening | 16 mm, 12-point, ratcheting |
|---|---|
| Shank | J (0.425 in) |
| Outside diameter | 30.5 mm |
| Head depth | 11 mm |
| Retaining pin to fastener center | 2.50 in (QJBOER series) |
Snap-on QJBOERM16A box end head or the Y-shank QYBOERM16A
In the metric ratcheting box end table, only the 16, 18 and 24 mm openings come on both shanks. So at 16 mm you get a real choice. The QJBOERM16A keeps the 2.50 in J spacing and suits light J bodies. The QYBOERM16A, by contrast, uses the 3.0 in QYBOER spacing and locks into heavier Y bodies. Therefore, pick the shank that matches the wrench on your bench, not the bolt alone.
Joints that call for the QJBOERM16A
M10 bolts to ISO 4017 and M10 nuts to ISO 4032 take a 16 mm hex. You meet them on conveyor frames, motor bases, pump feet and fixture plates. For example, a fitter can drop the ring over a nut behind a bracket and ratchet it down in short swings. Also, a 12-point ring re-engages every 30 degrees, which helps where the handle swing is short.
Sizing against the 15 mm and 17 mm heads
The 30.5 mm outside diameter and 11 mm depth decide how much room the QJBOERM16A needs around the nut. One step down, the 15 mm QJBOERM15A measures 28.5 mm across at the same depth. One step up, the 17 mm QJBOERM17A grows to 32 mm and 12 mm. So measure the gap to the nearest wall before you order.
Torque bodies and limits for the Snap-on QJBOERM16A box end head
Snap-on’s QD2IN50A (10-50 N·m) and QD2IN100A (20-100 N·m) dual-range bodies take J heads. The QC2I75 adjustable body, with a 5-75 ft-lb scale, also accepts them. Because Snap-on sizes these heads to a fixed pin-to-fastener distance, the QD2IN bodies need no adjustment math. However, the box end table prints no working torque for this ratchet ring. So ask Lost in HCM to confirm the head limit before you dial in a high value.
Keeping the QJBOERM16A ratchet clean
Grit inside the ratchet can make the ring slip under load. So wipe the QJBOERM16A after each shift and keep it in a closed drawer. Also, never use the torque wrench to break a seized nut loose, as Snap-on warns. Finally, recalibrate the body on a regular plan.

Snap-on QJBOERM16A box end head FAQ
Does a Y-shank wrench need a different 16 mm head?
Yes. Order the QYBOERM16A for a Y body, because the QJBOERM16A locks into J bodies only.
How much room does the 16 mm ring need?
Snap-on lists a 30.5 mm outside diameter and an 11 mm head depth for it.
Which M10 hardware takes a 16 mm hex?
M10 bolts to ISO 4017 and M10 nuts to ISO 4032 both use a 16 mm hex, so this ring suits them.
