Description
Plant mechanics at power stations and process sites often meet heavy bolts in cramped spots. The Snap-on QD3FR250A torque wrench answers with a 1/2 inch flex head on a 50-250 ft-lb click wrench. So the handle can angle past pipework while the socket stays square on the nut.

An 80-tooth flex head on the QD3FR250A
Snap-on lists 80 gear teeth and a 4.5 degree swing arc for this head. That means the ratchet picks up a new tooth with a short movement of the handle. In addition, the head measures 1-5/8 inches wide and 3/4 inch deep, which helps it reach recessed nuts. The full tool runs 25-3/4 inches long, so it gives good leverage at the top of the range.
Clockwise only, by design
Snap-on marks the QD3FR250A for clockwise-only calibration. Therefore, use it to tighten standard right-hand threads. For left-hand threads, choose a model that the maker calibrates in both directions. Also, the QD series carries a ±4% clockwise rating from 20% of full scale. Here that means 50 to 250 ft-lb, which is the whole range.
Power, oil and gas, and renewable sites
- Pump, valve and flange bolts in oil and gas plants.
- Switchgear frames and generator mounts in power stations.
- Solar tracker and wind tower hardware during installation and service.
In each case, the QD3FR250A needs no batteries, so it stays ready in a site toolbox.
