Description
Insert rings in the Snap-on IZO table start at 10 mm, and the Snap-on IZ10IR9X12 insert ring is the first of them. It wraps a 10 mm hex and locks into a 9 x 12 mm receiver. That makes it the closed-ring choice for M6 bolts and nuts on compact electronic wrenches.

M6 hardware and the IZ10IR9X12
ISO 4032 and DIN 934 both give M6 nuts a 10 mm hex. So the IZ10IR9X12 fits M6 hardware from either standard. You will meet it on motor covers, conveyor side rails and fixture plates in most plants.
Ring or the IZ10OE9X12 open end
Choose the IZ10IR9X12 ring for exposed bolt heads and nuts you can reach from above. It wraps the hex, so it suits plated M6 hardware that marks easily. By contrast, the IZ10OE9X12 open end fits a nut on a tube or behind a bracket. Stocking both takes little space, since they share one 9 x 12 receiver.
Bodies for the Snap-on IZ10IR9X12 insert ring
| Body | Range, N·m | 20% of full scale |
|---|---|---|
| CTECHAN30A | 1.50-30.00 | 6 N·m |
| CTECHANM30 | 1.5-30 | 6 N·m |
| CTECHAN135A | 6.8-135.0 | 27 N·m |
Snap-on calibrates its wrenches from 20 to 100% of full scale. So pick the body whose band covers your M6 value. For light M6 values, a 30 N·m body keeps the reading well up its scale. For higher grades, the CTECHAN135A gives more room with the IZ10IR9X12.
Station setup with the Snap-on IZ10IR9X12 insert ring
On an assembly line, a ControlTech preset can hold the M6 target for every shift. CAT1500i lists 50 presets with lockout, plus storage for 1,500 readings. Then select the head-length factor for this ring, and the operator only pulls to the signal. In addition, the stored readings support audits later. Also never use the ring to break a bolt loose, as Snap-on warns.
Buying the 10 mm IZ10IR9X12 ring
Lost in HCM supplies the IZ10IR9X12 and quotes it, while SMK Vietnam lists it as a partner product. Give them the body model and your M6 value. After that, ask Lost in HCM for a price on the 10 mm ring. More inserts sit under torque wrench heads and adaptors, or you can contact SMK Vietnam.
M6 ring questions
Is the IZ10IR9X12 the smallest insert ring?
Yes. Snap-on’s insert rings begin at 10 mm, on the 9 x 12 fitting.
Can a 14 x 18 wrench run a 10 mm ring?
No. The 14 x 18 rings start at 13 mm, so a 10 mm ring needs a 9 x 12 body.
