Description
Cement mills, crushers and crane slewing rings carry some of the heaviest bolts in any plant. The Snap-on CTM3000 torque multiplier handles them on battery power. It is the largest model in Snap-on’s cordless CTM table, with a 1-inch drive. Its range runs from 750 to 3,000 ft-lb, which equals 1,020 to 4,000 N·m.

Built for long shutdown shifts
Shutdown work means hundreds of large bolts in a tight window. Many battery tools slow down or cut out as they heat up. By contrast, the Snap-on CTM3000 torque multiplier uses an industrial motor that keeps going in those conditions. In addition, the motor runs brushless, so it needs little routine service. The 18 V, 5.0 Ah pack gives strong output per charge, yet a spare pack still saves time.

Checking joints that someone else tightened
Audits matter at this size, because a loose mill bolt costs far more than the check. The CTM3000 offers a torque audit function in Advanced mode. Its Turn Angle option also shows whether a bolt already sits at its value. Meanwhile, every result goes to memory with a time and date.
How it compares with the PTM4400 and manual gearboxes
On this site, the Snap-on PTM4400 pneumatic model reaches higher, up to 4,425 ft-lb. However, it needs a strong air supply and a filter/regulator. Manual MTMC and MTMP gearboxes need no power, but each bolt takes many handle turns. So the CTM3000 makes sense where joints stay under 3,000 ft-lb and air is hard to supply.
Sizing tip
Keep most CTM3000 targets above about 900 ft-lb. For lighter joints, the CTM2000 gives better control at the low end.
Care and safety for the Snap-on CTM3000 torque multiplier
Place the reaction arm square against a solid point before you press start. Snap-on adds a “safe to start” button, so both hands sit clear at start-up. After each shift, wipe the tool down and check the drive square. Finally, send it for a torque check on your normal cycle.
