Description

Small screws on an electronics or appliance line often need a record as well as the right torque. The Snap-on CTLNK1R240 torque wrench handles both jobs. It is a 1/4″ drive ControlTech Link digital wrench that sets from 1 to 20 ft-lb, and it can pass each reading to a plant system.

What “Link” adds to a ControlTech wrench

Snap-on’s CAT1500i catalog shows the Link wrenches with the CTLNKCTRL system controller. Through that box, the CTLNK1R240 links without wires to a manufacturing execution system (MES). So the plant can log each tightening against the job, the operator and the time. The controller also works alone as a data or control unit when a site has no MES. It stores up to 5,000 torque events.

By contrast, the standard ControlTech Industrial wrenches move their data over USB. Therefore, pick the Link version when live process control matters more than a download at the end of a shift.

Snap-on CTLNK1R240 torque wrench ranges

Drive 1/4 in square, fixed ratchet head
ft-lb 1-20
in-lb 12-240
N·m 1.4-27.2
On-board memory 1,500 readings

The catalog rates torque at ±2% clockwise and ±3% counterclockwise from 20% to 100% of capacity. From 5% to 19%, the band widens to ±4% and ±6%. In practice, keep most targets at 4 ft-lb or above, so they sit in the tighter band.

Where the CTLNK1R240 fits

  • PCB mounting screws and heat sink hardware on assembly lines.
  • Sensor, connector and small bracket screws in car electronics.
  • Cover and terminal screws on motors, drives and control cabinets.
  • Small fittings in appliance and HVAC production.

Signals the operator can trust

The wrench uses a backlit LCD, LED lights, a beep and handle vibration. As a result, the operator knows when to stop pulling, even on a noisy line. Lockable presets and sequence programs also stop people from changing a value by mistake.
