Keysight 6060B DC Electronic Load, 60 V, 60 A, 300 W, GPIB (Obsolete Model)

The Keysight 6060B DC electronic load is a single-input programmable load rated 60 V, 60 A and 300 W, with built-in GPIB and SCPI control. Keysight marks it obsolete. Lost in HCM lists it for rental and sale.

Description

Battery packs, low-voltage converters and bench supplies all push heavy current at modest voltage. The Keysight 6060B DC electronic load targets that corner, with up to 60 V and 60 A at its single input. Lost in HCM lists it for rental and sale, but Keysight marks the model obsolete, so supply depends on used stock.

Reading the 60 V, 60 A, 300 W rating

Those headline values do not apply at the same moment. The 300 W sinking limit caps the product of voltage and current, so 60 V at 60 A is out of reach. A 5 V rail at 60 A, however, lands right at the limit. Check your operating point against that power ceiling first.

Pulse, readback and protection

A built-in pulse generator provides programmable dynamic loading, so you can test how a supply recovers from a step. Integrated voltage and current readback also simplifies automated measurement. The load also guards against overvoltage, overcurrent, overpower, overtemperature and reverse polarity. Front-panel controls keep single-channel bench work quick.

Keeping a legacy station alive

  • Test-station continuity, where programs already talk to this model.
  • Power-supply transient and regulation testing.
  • Battery and DC component evaluation.

Confirm the unit before you order

Offers vary by serial number, so ask early about the model, the cables, the remote-sense wiring and GPIB compatibility. Also ask about firmware and any calibration evidence you need. Then the quote compares like with like, and your team avoids delays from a missing interface.

The replacement path

Keysight recommends an N3301A mainframe with an N3304A module as the substitute. Before you move, compare test limits and software compatibility. A rental can bridge the gap while you rewrite the program.

6060B questions

Can it sink 60 A at 60 V?

No. The 300 W power limit caps the product of voltage and current.

How do I control it remotely?

It has built-in GPIB and responds to SCPI commands.

What replaces the 6060B?

Keysight points to the N3301A mainframe with the N3304A module. Check limits and software first.
