Three modes for three jobs
Constant-current mode holds a fixed draw, which suits supply regulation and battery discharge tests. Constant-voltage mode holds the terminal voltage, so it suits tests of a current source. Finally, constant-resistance mode makes the load act like a resistor. As a result, the source sees a simple ohmic draw that is easy to predict.

Control and protection
Also, an analog input lets an outside voltage steer the current in constant-current mode. The mainframe programs the load and reads measurements back, so a scripted rack can log results without manual steps.
