Description

The Tektronix AFG31101 function generator offers 16 Mpoints of standard advanced-mode memory per channel. A 128 Mpoints upgrade exists too, but it is not included unless specified. Lost in HCM lists the model for rental and sale, so state your configuration when you ask for a quote.

Specification summary

  • One output channel with a 50 Ω output impedance.
  • Sine output covers 1 μHz up to 100 MHz.
  • Sample rate up to 1 GS/s with 14-bit resolution.
  • Control through a 9-inch touchscreen and front-panel keys.

Injecting a signal with one output

Run CH1 through a suitable coaxial cable to the circuit input. Next, probe the circuit output with a rated probe and watch it on an oscilloscope. Set waveform, load, amplitude and offset first, and only then enable the output. Amplitude limits change with frequency and waveform, so read the datasheet for your case.

Connection safety for the Tektronix AFG31101 function generator

The bench connection is an example, not a service circuit, so treat it as a starting point for your own plan. Confirm grounding, common-mode limits, termination and signal limits in the manuals before you connect. Never wire the output straight into mains or high-voltage switching circuits.

Put memory and sequencing in writing

Advanced-mode sequencing and any memory extension belong in the written configuration. Otherwise the quote covers the standard setup. Also ask the quote to name accessories and any calibration paperwork you expect. As a result, the delivered unit matches your plan, and your team can start work on day one.

Where one output fits

Use the single output to inject a controlled signal, then observe the circuit response on a scope. Filters, amplifiers, sensor interfaces and other low-voltage circuits are the natural targets. If you need a second related signal, a two-channel sibling in the same series may serve you better.

Rent or buy through Lost in HCM

Rent the Tektronix AFG31101 function generator for a short validation run, or buy it for a fixed bench. Either way, request a quote from Lost in HCM with your application, accessories and delivery site. AFG31101 questions

Is the 128 Mpoints upgrade included?

No. It is optional and stays out unless the quote specifies it.

What output impedance does it use?

50 Ω, so set the load setting to match your circuit before enabling the output.

Can I connect it to a mains circuit?

No. The bench connection example does not apply to mains or high-voltage power switching circuits.
