Description
Shrimp ponds stretch across Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Soc Trang and Ben Tre. Paddlewheel aerators turn day and night to keep oxygen up, and auto feeders scatter pellets on a timer. Salt, sun and constant shaking loosen their small bolts fast. The Snap-on TEC12FUAC Torqometer helps farm mechanics refit gearboxes, paddles and feeders to a measured value.

Pond-side repairs for the Snap-on TEC12FUAC Torqometer
- Paddle hub and float bracket bolts on aerators.
- Gearbox cover and motor flange bolts during a reseal.
- Feeder hopper, spinner disc and motor mount bolts.
- Pump and blower base bolts in hatchery sheds.
Some aerator manuals give values in kg·cm, while imported motors and pumps may list in-lb. So a combination dial saves a conversion on the pond bank.
Reading two scales and two needles
The TEC12FUAC shows kg·cm and in-lb on one face. Its first needle shows the targeted torque, and its second needle halts at the torque achieved. Thus a mechanic kneeling on a pond dyke can finish the pull, step back, and then read the peak. In addition, the held needle makes it easy to log each bolt for the farm owner.

Snap-on prints this base row in its Combination US/Metric Reading/Standard 2% Accuracy table. Its Torqometer pages state that certificate models add a C to the stock number. Hence the TEC12FUAC is the C form of the TEC12FUA, and Lost in HCM’s title also names a chart. Note that 150 in-lb equals about 173 kg·cm, so the two scales are close but not exact twins.
Accuracy band on the TEC12FUAC
Lost in HCM files it under Combination US/Metric Reading/Standard 2% Accuracy. By Snap-on’s definition, the grade holds 2% of reading from one fifth of the scale to full scale. On this dial, the band starts at 30 in-lb or 35 kg·cm. Below that, a smaller dial such as the 75 in-lb TEC6FUA reads more finely.
Pond salt and the TEC12FUAC
Pond air carries salt, and mud clings to every hand tool. Therefore wipe the TEC12FUAC with a dry cloth after each job and keep it in its PB9 case. Snap-on rates its Torqometer line for 0 to 100 °F, so keep it out of the noon sun on a dyke. Also zero the follow-up needle before each bolt. Never use it to break rusted bolts loose.

Aquaculture FAQ for the TEC12FUAC
What is 175 kg·cm in N·m?
About 17 N·m. The dial reads kg·cm and in-lb only, so convert N·m values first.
Will salt water harm the dial?
Snap-on publishes no water rating for this dial. Keep it dry and clean, and store it indoors.
Can I tighten aerator float bolts on the water?
Pull the aerator to the bank first. Working from a boat with a fine dial invites slips and lost tools.
