Description

Large M24 bolts on press frames, crusher bases and heavy pump skids often carry the highest specs in a plant. The Snap-on QZXM36ADP box end head meets them on the biggest Snap-on shank. Its 36 mm ring grips all six corners, and two pins hold it in the Z body. So the head stays put under a long, heavy pull.

Snap-on QZXM36ADP box end head, 36 mm 12-point dual pin ring for Z shank torque wrenches

QZXM36ADP fact sheet

Opening 36 mm, 12-point, closed
Shank Z (0.990 in), dual pins
Outside diameter 53 mm
Head depth 22 mm
Pin to fastener center 5.75 in (QZXM series)

The UK brochure prints the 36 mm Z ring as QZXM36A, with the same width and depth. However, its rating differs from the partner figure for the DP part. Therefore, we omit the maximum, and Lost in HCM confirms it with the quote.

Pairing Z bodies with the Snap-on QZXM36ADP box end head

  • QD4IN800A dual scale, 150-800 N·m (129-572 ft-lb), 41-1/2 in long and about 11 lb.
  • CTECH4Z600A ControlTech, 30-600 ft-lb, 44.8 in long, with a stored factor for head length.

Snap-on’s QD table also flags a body for dual-pin heads only. This ring has two pins, so it meets that note. Both bodies can still exceed a cautious head limit, so set the value at or below the figure Lost in HCM confirms.

Handling a 41 in wrench on M24

A Z body is long, so the swing arc often decides the job more than ring room. The 53 mm QZXM36ADP ring needs about 26.5 mm from the bolt center. Still, check the full arc of the tool before you start. Then brace your feet, pull at the grip and stop at the signal. Finally, free seized bolts with another tool, because Snap-on warns against breaking fasteners loose with a torque wrench.

Ring or socket at 36 mm

A socket on a square drive head also reaches M24 bolts. However, it adds height, and a tall stack can tilt under load. The QZXM36ADP sits low at 22 mm deep, so it suits nuts under brackets or close to a web. In contrast, a deep socket wins on a long stud end.
