Description
A ring grips all six corners of a hex, so it can take more load than an open jaw of the same size. The Snap-on QZXM25ADP box end head applies that to a 25 mm, 12-point opening on the Z shank (0.990 in). Two pins lock it into the body. As a result, it suits high-spec 25 mm fittings where a socket and extension will not fit.

Ring against jaw at 25 mm
| QZXM25ADP ring | QZOM25ADP jaw | |
|---|---|---|
| Max working torque | about 413 ft-lb | 275 ft-lb |
| O.D. | 37 mm | 52 mm |
| Depth | 16 mm | 11 mm |
The ring is narrower but thicker, and it carries roughly half as much again. However, it must drop over the nut from above or slide along a free bolt end. So pick the jaw only when a tube or rod blocks that path.
Where the rating comes from
The UK torque brochure lists the 25 mm Z ring as QZXM25A at 4,950 in-lb. That works out to about 413 ft-lb, or 560 N·m, and the source packet gives the same figure for the QZXM25ADP. Even so, neither CAT1500i nor the brochure prints the DP number itself. Therefore, Lost in HCM confirms the rating with each quote.
Using the Snap-on QZXM25ADP box end head on the QD4IN800A
CAT1500i lists one Z body, the QD4IN800A, with a 129 to 572 ft-lb scale. Its table also notes that a body takes dual-pin heads only, and this ring has two pins. So your window runs from 129 ft-lb up to the confirmed head limit. Snap-on keeps every QZXM head at 5.75 in from pin to fastener, so no length correction applies.
Typical 25 mm ring jobs
A 25 mm hex is not a standard ISO 4032 or DIN 934 bolt size. Instead, it tends to appear on hydraulic adapters, manifold plugs and special machine nuts. For instance, a plug on a press manifold may carry a firm spec yet sit in open space. The QZXM25ADP wraps it fully, so it resists slipping at high load.

Ring-head questions at 25 mm
Why is the QZXM25ADP rated higher than the 25 mm open jaw?
A closed ring spreads the load over the whole hex, while a jaw grips two flats. So the ring tolerates more.
How much space does the QZXM25ADP need?
It measures 37 mm across and 16 mm deep, so allow that around the nut.
Should I quote QZXM25A or QZXM25ADP?
Quote the DP number. The UK brochure prints QZXM25A with matching figures, but the dual-pin part is QZXM25ADP.
