Description
On many M22 joints, the X shank is the sweet spot. The Snap-on QXXM34A box end head puts a closed 34 mm, 12-point ring on that shank, matching the ISO hex for M22 nuts and bolts. A 23 in X body still handles well, yet its scale reads higher than the Y bodies. So pump bases, gear housings and conveyor drive frames get a measured value without the weight of a Z tool.

Size sheet for the QXXM34A
- Ring: 34 mm across the flats, 12 points, fully closed.
- Shank: X (0.735 in).
- Outside diameter 48 mm, head depth 19 mm.
- Pin to fastener center: 4.50 in, the QXXM series span.
Snap-on’s UK torque brochure and the partner listing agree on all four lines. The 34 mm row there offers Y, X and Z rings, but no J ring.
Why no rating appears for the Snap-on QXXM34A box end head
The partner listing and the brochure print different limits for this ring. Rather than pick one, we leave the number off. Lost in HCM will state the correct limit when it sends the price. Until then, plan around the more cautious of the two values.
X bodies for a 34 mm ring
| Body | Type | Range | Length |
|---|---|---|---|
| QD3IN350A | Adjustable, dual scale | 70-350 N·m (59-251 ft-lb) | 23 in |
| QC4P300 | Preset | 60-300 ft-lb | 27 in |
| CTECH3X250A | Electronic | 12.5-250 ft-lb | 24.1 in |
Pick the QD3IN350A when the job sheet lists N·m, because its scale reads both units. Meanwhile, the QC4P300 suits a station that repeats one value on the Snap-on QXXM34A box end head all shift.
Room around an M22 nut for the QXXM34A
With a 48 mm outside diameter, the ring needs about 24 mm from the nut center to the nearest wall. It also stands 19 mm tall, which is low next to a socket and adapter stack. In addition, the 12 points let the ring re-seat every 30 degrees. That helps when a frame member limits the handle swing.

M22 ring FAQ for the QXXM34A
Will a DIN 934 M22 nut take the QXXM34A?
Often not. DIN 934 gives M22 a 32 mm hex, while ISO 4032 uses 34 mm. So check the nut across the flats first.
Can a Y body take the QXXM34A?
No. The X shank only locks into X bodies. For a Y wrench, choose the QYXM34A instead.
Why pick the X shank over Z for an M22 job on the QXXM34A?
An X body is shorter and lighter. For example, the QD3IN350A runs 23 in, while the Z QD4IN800A runs 41-1/2 in.
