Description
M16 bolts hold down gearboxes, pump bases, frames and heavy brackets across most plants. Their 24 mm hex often sits behind a flange or rib, where a socket stack will not fit. For that job, the Snap-on QXXM24A box end head puts a 12-point ring on the stout X shank, so the joint gets both access and capacity.

Why an X shank suits a 24 mm hex
A 24 mm hex covers M16 in both ISO and DIN, so the size rarely causes doubt. The torque, however, can be high. Steel M16 bolts in common property classes often call for well over 150 N·m. A J or Y body runs out of range there, while an X body covers it with room to spare. As a result, the Snap-on QXXM24A box end head is the usual pick for structural and drivetrain M16 joints.
X bodies that take the QXXM24A
- QD3IN350A dual-range body, 70-350 N·m (59-251 ft-lb).
- QC4P300 preset body, 60-300 ft-lb (82-400 N·m), for one value on repeat.
- CTECH3X250A ControlTech body, 12.5-250 ft-lb, with stored readings.
The QD body needs no length math with this head, because Snap-on sizes those heads to a fixed pin spacing. Snap-on sources do not agree on the maximum for this ring, though. So ask Lost in HCM to confirm the limit before you set a value near the top of the body.
Other 24 mm rings from Snap-on
Snap-on offers the same opening in four shanks. The QJXM24A and QYXM24A suit lighter M16 work on J and Y bodies. Meanwhile, the QZXM24A moves up to the Z shank for the heaviest joints. Choose the shank that matches your body and the joint value.
Using the Snap-on QXXM24A box end head well
Pull at a right angle to the handle and keep the ring flat on the hex. Then stop at the click, since a click wrench can overshoot if you keep pulling. Also do not use the head to break bolts loose, because Snap-on warns against that.

QXXM24A FAQ
Does the QXXM24A fit DIN and ISO M16 bolts?
Yes. Both standards use a 24 mm hex for M16, so one ring covers both.
Can I put it on a Y body with an adaptor?
Snap-on pairs X heads with X bodies. So order the QYXM24A if your body has a Y socket.
How much room does the ring need?
The ring is 35 mm across and 15 mm deep. Allow at least half of 35 mm from the bolt center to any wall.
