Description
M16 ranks among the most common thread sizes on machine frames, pumps and conveyor drives. The Snap-on QXOM24A open end head fits its 24 mm hex on an X-shank (0.735 in) torque wrench. So you can torque an M16 jam nut, or a nut behind a bracket, with a click-type X body.

Checked dimensions of the QXOM24A
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Opening | 24 mm |
| Shank | X (0.735 in) |
| O.D. | 49 mm |
| Head depth | 11 mm |
| Fastener center to pin | 4.50 in |
Both CAT1500i and the UK torque brochure print these values. They do not agree on the head’s maximum working torque, though. So we leave it out, and Lost in HCM can confirm it with the quote.
M16 in every standard
ISO 4032, DIN 934 and JIS all size the M16 nut at 24 mm across flats. In addition, ISO 4017 hex bolts in M16 carry a 24 mm head. So unlike M10 or M12, an M16 nut rarely causes a size mix-up between European and Asian machines. That makes the Snap-on QXOM24A open end head an easy jaw to standardize across a mixed fleet.
X bodies with the Snap-on QXOM24A open end head
CAT1500i lists two X-shank bodies. The QD3IN350A reads 70 to 350 N·m (59 to 251 ft-lb) and includes a calibration certificate. Alternatively, the QC4P300 preset covers 60 to 300 ft-lb in a 27 in tube. Because QD heads share one pin-to-fastener size, the QD body needs no length correction with this jaw.
Choosing between the 24 mm heads
Snap-on offers 24 mm jaws on all four shanks: QJOM24A, QYOM24A, QXOM24A and QZOM24ADP. The J head suits light specs on small bodies. Meanwhile, the Y head pairs with 23 in preset wrenches. The X head fits crews that already own an X body for larger fittings. Finally, the Z head needs the long QD4IN800A.
Keeping the Snap-on QXOM24A open end head in good shape
Wipe the jaw faces after each job and look for burrs. Also inspect the shank and the pin hole, because a worn fit can wobble under load. Store the head in a case slot so it does not knock against other tools. Then send the body for recalibration on your normal plant cycle.

Buyer FAQ: the 24 mm X jaw
Will the QXOM24A fit a QD3IN200B?
No. The QD3IN200B takes Y heads only. Use the QD3IN350A or the QC4P300 instead.
Can I torque an M16 jam nut with it?
Yes, if the spec falls inside your X body range and below the confirmed head limit. The open jaw slides over the nut from the side, so the rod can stay in place.
