Description
No ISO 4032 or DIN 934 coarse nut uses a 20 mm hex. Even so, 20 mm flats show up on gauge adapters, test-point fittings and sensor bodies. The Snap-on QJOM20A open end head gives those parts a controlled pull on a J-shank (0.425 in) body. Because it goes on from the side, the gauge or cable can stay connected.

A gauge adapter on a power unit
Consider a hydraulic power unit with a pressure gauge on a short adapter. The gauge face blocks a socket, and an ordinary spanner gives no torque reading. With the QJOM20A on a J preset, a technician seats the jaw on the 20 mm flats and pulls to the click. As a result, the adapter seals without crushing the thread. Always take the value from the fitting maker, though.
What we can confirm on the QJOM20A
- Opening: 20 mm, open end, J shank (0.425 in).
- Pin to fastener center: 2.50 in, as for every QJOM head.
- Maximum working torque: CAT1500i and the UK brochure differ, so ask Lost in HCM.
- Width and depth: the two books also differ, so measure the space and ask for current figures.
When the Snap-on QJOM20A open end head is too light
Some 20 mm parts need more torque than the Snap-on QJOM20A open end head should carry. In that case, look at the QYOM20A and the QXOM20A. Both books put those two at about 160 ft-lb, or roughly 217 N·m, so that figure is firm. Then the choice depends on your body: a Y wrench such as the QD3IN200B, or an X wrench such as the QD3IN350A.
Light J wrenches that suit the QJOM20A
For light fittings, the QD2IN50A reads 9.2 to 35.0 ft-lb and stays under both printed head limits. The QD2IN100A goes up to 71.9 ft-lb, however, so check the limit before you use its upper scale. For a fixed value on a test bench, a QC2P75 preset keeps every operator on the same number.
A fitting list speeds up the Snap-on QJOM20A open end head quote
SMK Vietnam shows this head for its partner, and Lost in HCM supplies it and quotes it. Request a quote from Lost in HCM and list the fitting, the J body and the spec. If the job needs the Y or X jaw, browse torque wrench heads and adaptors. Otherwise, contact SMK Vietnam and the team will point you to the right page.
20 mm jaw FAQ for the QJOM20A
Could the QJOM20A stand in for an M12 spanner?
No. M12 nuts use 18 mm in ISO 4032 and 19 mm in DIN 934. A 20 mm jaw would sit loose and round the corners.
Do I need a setting correction with the QJOM20A?
On a QD dual-range body, CAT1500i says the heads share pin-to-fastener sizing, so no adjustment math applies. For other bodies, check the wrench manual.
Is the QJOM20A made for metric parts only?
Yes, the 20 mm opening is a metric size. For inch flats, Snap-on sells separate inch open end heads, so ask Lost in HCM for the right part.
