Description
Seventeen millimeters is one of the busiest sizes on an assembly floor, because DIN-style M10 hardware uses it. The Snap-on QJOM17A open end head gives a light J-shank body a 17 mm jaw for that work. It slides onto the nut from the side, so it reaches bolts behind guards, cable trays and motor housings.

Snap-on data for the QJOM17A
| Opening | 17 mm, open end |
|---|---|
| Shank | J (0.425 in) |
| Maximum recommended working torque | 60 ft-lb (about 81 N·m) |
| O.D. | 35 mm |
| Head depth | 8 mm |
| Fastener center to retaining pin | 2.50 in (QJOM series) |
Typical 17 mm jobs on a production line
Conveyor frames, motor feet, guard brackets and fixture plates often use 17 mm hex heads. Many of those joints sit between a frame rail and a part, where a socket cannot drop in. In such cases, the QJOM17A enters sideways and grips two flats. Also, its 8 mm depth clears most shallow overhangs.
J bodies for the Snap-on QJOM17A open end head
The QJOM17A rating equals the top of the J range in Snap-on’s open-end table. So a mid-range J body suits it well. For instance, the QC2I75 adjustable body reads 5 to 75 ft-lb, and the QD2IN100A dual-range body reads 20 to 100 N·m. Both run past 60 ft-lb at full scale, so cap the setting at the head limit. In addition, Snap-on says the QD body needs no adjustment calculation with heads sized from pin to fastener center.
When to step up from J at 17 mm
A 60 ft-lb ceiling covers most M10 work, yet some specs run higher. At 17 mm, the Y and X versions each carry 103 ft-lb. Therefore move to a QYOM17A on a Y body when your target passes 60 ft-lb. However, do not switch to X for capacity here, because the X head adds no rating over Y at this size.
QJOM17A care tips
Check the jaw for wear on its inner corners, where slips leave marks first. Next, clean the shank before you fit the QJOM17A, so the pin locks fully. Finally, log each head with the body it serves, so calibration records stay clear.

QJOM17A FAQ
Does a 17 mm jaw suit M10 bolts?
Often, yes. DIN-style M10 hardware uses 17 mm, while some ISO parts use 16 mm. So measure before you order.
What if my spec is 80 ft-lb?
Use the Y-shank QYOM17A, which Snap-on rates at 103 ft-lb.
Is the QJOM17A thin enough for tight frames?
Its 8 mm head depth suits most frame gaps. For narrower slots, Snap-on also lists a thin 17 mm J head, the QJOM17ARTH.
