Description
Pipe hangers and cable tray supports often hang on M16 threaded rod. The rod keeps going past the nut, so a ring insert has no way on. The Snap-on IZ24OE14X18 torque insert takes that nut from the side with a 24 mm open jaw. It plugs into the 14 x 18 mm IZO/ISO fitting of an electronic torque wrench.
One body for the IZ24OE14X18
CAT1500i shows a single ControlTech wrench with the 14 x 18 mm receiver, the CTECHBN340A. That wrench reads 17.0 to 340.0 N·m and also measures 23.9 in (607 mm) without a head. Its accuracy holds from 20 to 100% of full scale, per Snap-on. So the useful band with the IZ24OE14X18 starts near 68 N·m. However, CAT1500i prints no torque limit for IZO inserts. Therefore the joint spec and the body scale set the ceiling.
Open jaw or closed ring for M16 work
An M16 nut measures 24 mm across flats under both ISO 4032 and DIN 934. Snap-on makes two 24 mm parts for this fitting. The IZ24IR14X18 ring grips all six flats, while the IZ24OE14X18 grips two. So use the ring wherever the nut is open from above. Keep the open end for nuts on running rod, tube or a part that blocks the top.
First pull with the Snap-on IZ24OE14X18 torque insert
An insert moves the point of load away from the wrench body. For that reason, ControlTech wrenches store a calibration factor for different head lengths. Select the right factor before the first pull, so the display matches the torque at the jaw. Then seat the nut fully in the jaw and pull at the grip, slowly and square. Also break old nuts loose with a plain spanner, as Snap-on advises.
