Description
Some power supplies only push current out. The Rohde & Schwarz NGM202 supply, short for the NGM202 two-channel power supply, can also take current back, and it logs the result at speed. Lost in HCM lists it for rental and sale, with service on request.

The 60 W channel limit means the headline voltage and current of the Rohde & Schwarz NGM202 supply never occur together. So multiply voltage by current for your load, and leave margin for startup surges and test conditions.
Source, sink and fast logging
The supply uses linear regulation, and two-quadrant operation lets a channel sink current as well as source it. FastLog records up to 500 ksample/s, so short load steps show up in the data. Battery simulation needs the applicable optional function, so name it in your request.
Plan a repeatable run
First, define the voltage, current, power and sink limits before you connect the device. Then check polarity, grounding and sense leads with the output disabled. Set overvoltage, overcurrent and overpower protection to suit the load, and enable the output only after that. Finally, record the settings, firmware, logging rate and fixture with each result.

Can both channels give 20 V and 6 A?
No. Each channel is limited to 60 W, and the current limit falls from 6 A to 3 A above 6 V.
Can the NGM202 act as a load?
Yes, because it is a two-quadrant instrument. It sources or sinks current within its limits, so follow the manual when you connect a battery.
