Description

Fast edges and slow debugging do not mix well, so a scope needs both bandwidth and depth. The Rigol MSO9402 oscilloscope belongs to the MSO-DS9000 family and reaches 4 GHz at a 50 ohm input. Lost in HCM lists it for rental and sale, with service on request.

Two bandwidths, one for each input mode

The headline 4 GHz applies at 50 ohm. At 1 Mohm, however, the bandwidth is 500 MHz. So choose the input mode by the signal source: fast terminated signals suit the 50 ohm path, while general probing suits the 1 Mohm path.

Channels and digitizing

Inputs 2 analog channels, an external trigger and 16 digital channels
Sample rate 20 GSa/s half-channel; 10 GSa/s all-channel
Resolution 8 bit native; 9 to 16 bit in high-resolution mode
Capture rate Up to 1,000,000 wfms/s in fast recording mode
Memory depth Standard 500 Mpts half-channel and 200 Mpts all-channel; optional 2 Gpts and 1 Gpts

Display and built-in generator

A 10.1-inch touchscreen with 1280 x 800 pixels carries the controls. Rigol also lists a two-channel 50 MHz waveform generator as standard, with a 200 MHz option. As a result, one Rigol MSO9402 oscilloscope can both stimulate and measure a circuit.

Where the Rigol MSO9402 oscilloscope fits

Rigol positions the scope for waveform inspection, embedded-system debugging and laboratory measurements. For example, a team can capture a long serial exchange, then zoom into one fast edge. The deep record also keeps that detail available.

Confirm these items before you order

  • Model, firmware and installed licenses, such as serial-bus decode.
  • Probes, adapters and cables, because optional items may not come with the unit.
  • Memory option, bandwidth and channel count, then the signals you plan to probe.
  • Availability, since Rigol lists the model but supply still needs checking.

Also, the series photo may show a different model marking. The specifications on this page describe the MSO9402.

Rent it or buy it

Rental covers a project with a clear end date, while a purchase fits a lab with daily demand. Lost in HCM prices both after you confirm the options.

MSO9402 questions

Is 4 GHz available in both input modes?

No. The scope offers 4 GHz at 50 ohm, but only 500 MHz at 1 Mohm.

How many channels does it have?

It has 2 analog channels, an external trigger input and 16 digital channels, so it suits mixed-signal work.

Is the larger memory option included?

Standard depth is 500 Mpts half-channel and 200 Mpts all-channel. However, the 2 Gpts and 1 Gpts depths are options, so confirm them in the quote.
