Description
A good first question when you pick a scope is how fast your signal really is. The Rigol MSO5102 oscilloscope answers with 100 MHz of bandwidth, two analog channels and 16 digital inputs. Lost in HCM lists it for rental and sale, and it arranges service on request.

100 MHz and two analog channels
This setup suits jobs where one analog trace matters most. A service technician can probe a sensor while the logic inputs follow a serial bus. A second analog input then watches the supply or a reference line. As a result, the two traces explain whether a fault comes from the signal or from the power.

Debugging serial buses with logic inputs
On the Rigol MSO5102 oscilloscope, serial buses such as I2C and SPI toggle slowly enough for 100 MHz in many designs. The 16 digital inputs let you view the clock, the data and a chip-select line together. However, always compare the fastest edge on your board with the bandwidth first. Then add the PLA2216 probe to your request, because the digital side needs it.
Field service with the Rigol MSO5102 oscilloscope
A two-channel scope with a 9-inch screen is easy to carry between machines. Technicians can hold a fault on the screen, then step through the bus traffic. Short on-site visits also suit a rental, since the unit comes back after the job. In addition, the optional AFG can supply a test signal when a stage has none.
Sampling and memory in plain terms
One active channel samples at up to 8 GSa/s. With all analog channels active, the rate falls to 2 GSa/s. Memory starts at 100 Mpts and can reach 200 Mpts with the option. The exact depth depends on the channel mode.

MSO5102 questions
Is 100 MHz enough for serial buses?
Slow and mid-speed buses often fit. Compare the fastest edge on your board with the bandwidth before you decide.
Do I need the digital probe?
Yes. The 16 digital inputs need the PLA2216 probe, so add it to your request.
Does memory depth change with channel use?
Yes. The depth is channel-mode dependent, with 100 Mpts standard on a single channel and up to 200 Mpts optional.
