Description

Factory floors run on signals that arrive in groups, such as sensor outputs, relay drives and motor feedback. The Rigol MSO5074 oscilloscope watches four analog channels at 70 MHz and adds 16 digital inputs. Lost in HCM lists it for rental and sale, and it arranges service on request.

Four channels for control and drive signals

Four channels let you follow a command, its feedback and two supply lines together, so a maintenance engineer can see which signal moved first. The digital inputs add PLC outputs or a serial bus to the same capture. So you trace a fault from cause to effect on one timeline.

MSO5074 data sheet summary

Family MSO5000
Analog bandwidth 70 MHz
Channels 4 analog + 16 digital (PLA2216 probe required)
Max sample rate Up to 8 GSa/s single channel; 2 GSa/s with all analog channels active
Memory depth 100 Mpts single-channel standard; up to 200 Mpts optional; channel-mode dependent
Capture rate Up to 500,000 waveforms/s under specified test conditions
Vertical resolution 8 bit
Display 9-inch 1024 x 600 capacitive touchscreen
Signal generator 2-channel 25 MHz AFG optional

Is 70 MHz enough on the factory floor?

Often it is, because motor feedback, contactor timing, analog sensors and slow field buses sit well below 70 MHz. However, switching power stages can still produce fast edges, so check those first. Then, if a measurement needs more speed, ask Lost in HCM about a wider model.

Using the Rigol MSO5074 oscilloscope during commissioning

A new line goes through weeks of checks, and during that time a scope with four channels and logic inputs saves many swaps of probes. You can leave the supply, the sensor and the drive command connected, and then step through each test. In addition, the 9-inch touchscreen makes it easy to save a screen for the report.

What to list in your request

  • Analog probes that suit your voltage levels.
  • The PLA2216 probe for the 16 digital inputs.
  • An optional 2-channel 25 MHz AFG, if you need a stimulus.
  • A memory upgrade, up to 200 Mpts, for long captures.

Lost in HCM supplies the unit and gives the quote, while SMK Vietnam only shows the listing. To start, request a quote from Lost in HCM with your dates and site. For a commissioning project, renting the Rigol MSO5074 oscilloscope avoids a long-term cost. Compare the oscilloscope listings, read about the brand at Rigol or contact SMK Vietnam.

MSO5074 questions

Is 70 MHz enough for factory control signals?

Many control, sensor and slow bus signals sit far below 70 MHz. Compare your fastest edge with the bandwidth first.

How much memory can I get?

A single channel gets 100 Mpts as standard. An optional upgrade lifts that to 200 Mpts, and the exact depth follows the channel mode.

Does the sample rate stay at 8 GSa/s with four channels?

No. The 8 GSa/s rate applies to a single channel, and 2 GSa/s applies with all analog channels active.
