Description

A switching converter has four signals worth watching together: gate drive, switch node, output and current sense. So the Rigol DHO1104 oscilloscope gives each one a channel, with 100 MHz of bandwidth and 12-bit vertical resolution. Lost in HCM lists it for rental and sale in Vietnam, and it quotes each unit after a configuration check.

Power-stage debugging on four channels

Rigol names power electronics as a target for the DHO1000 family. With four inputs, you can line up the gate edge, the switch node and the output ripple on one screen. The external trigger input also lets a separate event start the capture.

The Rigol DHO1104 oscilloscope at a glance

Parameter DHO1104
Analog bandwidth 100 MHz
Inputs 4 analog plus external trigger
Maximum sample rate Up to 2 GSa/s
Memory depth 50 Mpts standard, up to 100 Mpts optional
Waveform capture Up to 1,500,000 wfms/s in UltraAcquire mode
Vertical resolution 12 bit, plus 14/16 bit high-resolution modes
Display 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 capacitive touchscreen

Catching rare events

Fast capture matters when a fault appears once in a while. UltraAcquire mode reaches up to 1,500,000 waveforms per second. In addition, 50 Mpts of standard memory, or 100 Mpts as an option, lets you scroll back through a longer record.

Probing the switch node

A switch node swings fast, so the probe matters as much as the scope. Confirm the attenuation ratio and the input voltage category before you wire anything. Then ground the probe with a short lead. For example, a long ground clip adds ringing that the converter does not have.

On the front panel

The product photo shows a DHO1000 series scope. Its 10.1-inch screen holds a waveform view over an FFT trace, while four BNC inputs sit along the bottom edge.

Rental or purchase

Rent when a converter bring-up needs four channels for a month. Buy instead when the bench uses them daily. To start, request a quote from Lost in HCM for the Rigol DHO1104 oscilloscope. Give the probe count, firmware and memory option. Other scopes sit in the oscilloscopes category. Official documents live at rigol.com, and you can contact SMK Vietnam with questions.

DHO1104 questions

When should I pick four channels over two?

Choose four when one fault involves several signals at once. Two channels also suit simple input-versus-output checks.

What display does it have?

It has a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 capacitive touchscreen, so touch zoom is available on the panel.

What should the quote spell out?

List the probes, adapters, cables, firmware, memory option, condition, calibration status, warranty scope and delivery terms. Then both sides know what ships.
