Description
Some converter and storage stages run at hundreds of volts yet draw only a few amps. The Keysight RP5915A regenerative supply fits that profile with a 500 V maximum and ±12 A of source or sink current. So this 2 kW bidirectional unit can power a device and also absorb energy back from it.

Voltage first, current second
- Maximum voltage: 500 V.
- Source or sink current: ±12 A.
- Source or sink power: ±2,000 W.
- Connections: USB, LAN, CAN and digital I/O as standard, with optional GPIB and analog or RS-232.
Five hundred volts at 12 A would reach 6 kW, three times the rating. So the power limit decides what you can run. Plot each test point against voltage, current and power before you commit.
Noise, ripple and response
The listing gives 1,500 mV peak-to-peak noise and ripple, 30 ms output response time and 300 mV voltage programming accuracy. Compare these figures with your tolerance, because a sensitive stage may need a closer look. Meanwhile the data sheet explains the conditions behind each number.
How the two quadrants work together
One quadrant is a programmable DC source. The other is an independent regenerative load, so it takes power back. Output autoranging, arbitrary waveforms and digitized measurements then support dynamic power tests. Because regeneration returns absorbed energy to the grid, your room carries less heat.
Protection covers overvoltage, overcurrent, overpower, overtemperature and power-grid faults.
Where a Keysight RP5915A regenerative supply works
Battery simulation, cycling and energy-storage validation come first. Next come bidirectional converters and DC-DC power devices. Automated qualification racks in aerospace, automotive and industrial work can use it too. For example, a production line can run converters back to back while the grid recovers part of the energy.
Order through Lost in HCM
Lost in HCM lists this model for rental and sale, and it arranges service on request. Rental fits a project with a clear end date, while a lab with steady demand may buy. Please request a quote from Lost in HCM and describe your voltage, current and interface needs. Compare other power supplies here, or contact SMK Vietnam if you need help. The Keysight site carries the official data.
Keysight RP5915A regenerative supply questions
Can it hold 500 V at 12 A?
No. That pair would be 6 kW, well above the 2 kW rating.
What AC input does it need?
It runs from a three-phase supply. Therefore ask Lost in HCM to confirm the input details for the exact unit, and have your facility team approve the connection.
Does the quote cover calibration documents?
Also ask for them by name. The quote should list the configuration, accessories, calibration documents, rental period and delivery terms.
