Description
A solar inverter expects a panel array, not a battery. The Keysight N8957APV PV simulator, a photovoltaic array simulator, reproduces the current-voltage curve of an array so you can test an inverter indoors. It is rated 1500 V, 30 A and 15 kW.

What a PV simulator does
The N8957APV simulates photovoltaic array I–V characteristics. Therefore engineers use that behavior for solar inverter evaluation and for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) checks. Curve or table modes support controlled test conditions. However, confirm the installed firmware, the software, the licenses and the test-profile compatibility before you plan a run.
It is a source-only instrument, so verify what your device under test expects from the source before you connect it. The Keysight N8957APV PV simulator cannot absorb power.
A legacy model, so plan the sourcing
Lost in HCM lists this model as a legacy unit. New-production availability is not promised. Instead, ask for used-equipment sourcing, a rental availability review or a repair evaluation. Keysight lists the PV8921A as a replacement, but confirm that it suits your test separately.
Planning an inverter test
First, collect a few facts about your inverter. Then check them against this list.
- List the array voltage and current you want to emulate.
- Check that the 15 kW rating covers the inverter input power.
- Decide whether curve mode or table mode fits your profile.
- Note the interfaces you need: the listing shows LAN, USB, GPIB and analog.
The input is 400 VAC, three phase, and the installed option must match your site. Ask for a photo of the label and the option list. The maximum voltage and current are separate limits, so rated power caps the combined output.
Request the Keysight N8957APV PV simulator
SMK Vietnam shows the listing, and Lost in HCM supplies the unit for rental or sale and arranges service on request. A rental suits a certification push or a short R&D peak. Please request a quote from Lost in HCM with your inverter details, dates and delivery city. You can also see other power supplies, open the Keysight website, or contact SMK Vietnam.
N8957APV questions
Is the N8957APV still in production?
Lost in HCM lists it as a legacy model, so new-production availability is not promised. Ask about used sourcing, rental or repair.
Is there a newer replacement?
Keysight lists the PV8921A as a replacement. Confirm that it suits your test before you switch.
Can it absorb power from my inverter?
It is a source-only instrument. Check the energy-flow needs of your device before you connect it.
