Description
A board with many small rails does not need many big supplies. The Keysight N6761A DC power module is a precision, autoranging module rated to 50 V and 1.5 A, with a 50 W ceiling. It fills one slot in N6700 and N6705 systems, so a single frame can carry several outputs. Lost in HCM lists it for rental and sale.
Why 50 V and 1.5 A never meet
Multiply the two ratings and you get 75 W, which is more than the 50 W limit. So the output follows a power envelope instead of two fixed corners. At 50 V, the module supplies about 1 A. At the full 1.5 A, the voltage reaches about 33 V. Sketch your own voltage and current pairs first, and then compare them with that curve.
Precision for low-current loads
Autoranging lets the Keysight N6761A DC power module cover many low-power devices without swapping hardware. The output has a single channel, and it responds in 0.1 ms. Four-wire remote sense compensates for the drop in the load leads, which matters most when the device sits far from the frame. In addition, you can adjust the slew rate, run LIST mode, log data and generate arbitrary waveforms.
Many outputs, one frame
Because the module takes a single slot, a frame can hold several of them beside higher-power units. You set up each output on its own, within the slot and power limits of the frame. For example, a multi-rail board can get one module per rail. Teams then sequence the rails in software and verify the whole start-up.
