Description

A motor controller, a battery pack input or a block of test fixtures can pull tens of amps. The Keysight N6755A DC power module supplies up to 50 A at up to 20 V, within a 500 W limit. It is a double-slot, autoranging module, so it plugs into N6700 and N6705 systems. Lost in HCM lists it for rental and sale, and it arranges service on request.

Rated output

Outputs 1
Maximum voltage 20 V
Maximum current 50 A
Maximum power 500 W
Architecture Autoranging
Output response time 0.1 ms
Module width Double slot
Sensing Four-wire remote sense

Why 20 V and 50 A never run together

Multiply the two headline limits and you get 1,000 W, which is double the 500 W rating. So the module cannot deliver both at once. At 20 V, for example, the power limit allows no more than 25 A. Autoranging then lets the output shift along that limit, so plan each test as a point inside the rated envelope.

Remote sense and quick response

Large currents cause real voltage drop in the load leads, so remote sensing matters. Four-wire remote sense compensates for that drop at the device under test. In addition, the output responds in 0.1 ms, so it keeps up with a load that changes quickly.

Programmable behavior

You can adjust the slew rate and run LIST mode for stepped sequences. The data logger also records results, and arbitrary waveform generation shapes dynamic stimulus. Together, these functions turn a plain supply into a test tool for automated work.

Plan the mainframe around the Keysight N6755A DC power module

The module takes a double slot, so count two positions in the mainframe. It fits Keysight N6700 low-profile modular power systems and N6705 DC power analyzers. Then check the firmware, the free slots and the total power of every module that will share the frame. Finally, list the cables and the interface.

Typical uses

The module powers device-under-test rails and ATE fixture resources. It also serves embedded, automotive and industrial electronics development. In addition, multi-rail sequencing and production verification suit it, as does bench analysis with an N6705 DC power analyzer.

N6755A questions

How many mainframe slots does the N6755A use?

It is a double-slot module, so it takes two positions in a compatible mainframe.

Can it deliver 20 V and 50 A at once?

No, because that point would need 1,000 W, and the module tops out at 500 W.

What does four-wire sense do?

It measures voltage at the load, so it corrects for the drop in the leads.
