Description

Not every bench needs a large supply. The Keysight E3643A power supply is a compact 50 W benchtop unit with a single output and two voltage ranges. Lost in HCM lists it for rental and sale in Vietnam.

Keysight E3643A power supply, E364x series benchtop unit with a green display, voltage range keys and output terminals on the front, and GPIB and RS-232 ports on the rear

One output, two ranges

Keysight’s product page gives the first range as 0 to 35 V at up to 1.4 A. The second range runs from 0 to 60 V at up to 0.8 A. You pick a range from the front panel, then set voltage and current limits inside it. Because total power stops at 50 W, the high range trades current for voltage. As a result, the 1.4 A figure never applies at 60 V.

Where the Keysight E3643A power supply earns its place

  • 24 V and 48 V sensor loops, because the 60 V range covers them with room to spare.
  • Small control boards, relay logic and industrial I/O modules.
  • Op-amp, ADC and reference-design evaluation at low current.
  • Repair benches that service low-power industrial electronics.

In short, it suits circuits that need volts more than amps.

Interfaces and noise

The manufacturer lists GPIB and RS-232, so existing test racks and scripts keep working. However, the listing shows no USB or LAN port. A laptop-only setup may therefore need an adapter. Keysight also quotes normal-mode ripple and noise under 8 mVpp, which helps analog work.

Sizing the load

First, multiply voltage by current for your device. A 24 V board that draws 1 A needs 24 W, which sits well inside the rating. In contrast, a load that wants 60 V and 1 A cannot run on the Keysight E3643A power supply, since that range stops at 0.8 A. Then check the start-up peak, because some boards pull more current at power-on than at idle.

Renting or buying the E3643A

Rent the Keysight E3643A power supply for a short validation project, while a station that runs daily suits ownership. In both cases, request a quote from Lost in HCM with your dates, delivery city and cable needs. Ask about calibration paperwork too. You can also browse other power supply listings, read the Keysight E3643A page or contact SMK Vietnam.

E3643A questions

Can the E3643A give 60 V and 1.4 A together?

No. The 60 V range tops out at 0.8 A, and the 1.4 A figure belongs to the 35 V range.

Which remote interfaces does it list?

Keysight lists GPIB and RS-232. Ask Lost in HCM before you order if your software needs USB or LAN.

Is a 50 W supply enough for my board?

Check your peak load in watts. If voltage times current stays under 50 W and inside the range limits, it fits.
