Description
Many RF benches keep a drawer of splitters, one for each band. The Keysight 87302C power divider can replace several of them. This hybrid part divides a signal into two near-equal outputs anywhere from 500 MHz up to 26.5 GHz, and it holds 19 dB of isolation between those outputs.

One divider from 500 MHz up
Wide coverage saves swaps and adapter changes during a test. For example, a single setup can sweep a low-band receiver and a K-band part without new hardware. Meanwhile, the hybrid design gives each output a nominal equal share of the input. As a result, results stay comparable across the whole sweep.
The numbers, band by band
- Frequency range: 0.5 to 26.5 GHz.
- Maximum SWR: 1.45 from 0.5 to 18 GHz, then 1.60 up to 26.5 GHz.
- Insertion loss above the 3 dB split: 1.5 dB up to 18 GHz, then 1.9 dB in the top band.
- Isolation: 19 dB.
- Amplitude tracking: 0.3 dB maximum, widening to 0.5 dB over the upper band.
- Phase tracking: 6 degrees maximum, widening to 10 degrees over the upper band.
Typical bench roles for the Keysight 87302C power divider
Engineers use it to feed one microwave source into two instruments, or into a reference arm and a test arm. It also fits network analyzer and spectrum analyzer setups. In addition, receiver, component and subsystem comparisons rely on matched outputs like these. Calibration, production and research systems up to 26.5 GHz round out the list.
Before you connect
A used or rented divider should prove its condition first. So check the connectors for wear, then measure return loss, insertion loss, isolation and tracking against the figures above. Also clean the ports and fit end caps after each session. Near 26 GHz, even small connector damage shows up in the data.

87302C FAQ
Why pick a divider that starts at 0.5 GHz?
It lets one part serve both sub-GHz and microwave work. That way, you change less hardware between tests.
Does the 87302C split power equally?
Yes, it gives a nominal equal split. Each output also tracks the other within the amplitude and phase limits listed above.
What should I check on a rented unit?
Look at connector wear first. Then verify return loss, insertion loss, isolation and tracking before you trust the data.
